◈ How an A-Rank Hunter Lives ◈

Chapter 22: Younger Sister Kim Seon - [2]

──────

Ⓐ BabyBerserker: Big sisters and big brothers, big sisters and big brothers! Do you like milkies?

A little while ago, BabyMushroom was fighting a bad monster when BabyMushroom's chubby hamster cheeks and cute little fingers got snipped right off, nyaang! Waaaaa!

Good BabyMushroom was in so much pain, but held it in because BabyMushroom was worried Santa grandpa wouldn't bring presents if BabyMushroom cried! Then BabyMushroom came home, ate dinner, and went night-night!

Pat pat for good, brave BabyMushroom!

After waking up, BabyMushroom went to the bathroom to brushy brushy!

Then BabyMushroom looked in the mirror, and guess what? Milkies were flowing from BabyMushroom's hands and face?!?

Did BabyMushroom become a dairy cow, nyaang? BabyMushroom was so surprised, but then looked closer, and hoeeeeee!!

That pure white stuff wasn't milkies. It was BabyMushroom's skin!

The colors of BabyMushroom's original and regenerated skin were so different that BabyMushroom got confused for a second! Such a silly BabyMushroom, eekyun♡

Below are pictures of BabyMushroom's original skin color and regenerated skin color! Promise not to fall in love with BabyMushroom's milky skin, big sisters and big brothers!!

Thanks to my real-life fame and stellar performance, I was now one of Huntweb's big names. The comments came pouring in the moment I made a post.

Anonymous: Seeing this guy's regenerated skin in person is fucking terrifying. He doesn't smile much, so he already looks intimidating, but the regenerated parts are a completely different color. He looks like Frankenstein or something;

Ⓐ syberMagneto: Please... Don't ruin that moving moment like this...

Anonymous: What the hell is wrong with this bastard? Why does he turn into a complete lunatic whenever he does an interview or gets online?

Ⓐ ElmayaCaeyong: Well, after all he's been through, he has to relieve his stress somehow. You've had it rough in a lot of ways. Keep it up. You've got this!

YYY: A friend told me Hunter Kim Geuk was on this site, so I came here. Is this really him? Really?

└ Ⓑ GoodHunter: Surprisingly...

└ YYY: No, I'm one of the survivors Hunter Kim Geuk saved back then. He was so cool, and I came here to thank him for saving us even while he was seriously hurt, so why is he acting like this here?

└ Anonymous: Probably a side effect of Councilor Park Mihyeong's brainwashing?

Mm, nice. Not bad.

Even if I had to do it this way, gathering everyone's attention made me feel better.

Come to think of it, I'd always tried to get attention like this whenever I used the internet. Was that also because of my shitty family environment? Seeking affection because I lacked it, something like that?

Ⓐ BabyBerserker: Are you an Incheon citizen BabyMushroom rescued, nyaang? Nice to meet you! So nice to meet you!! Incheon citizens must survive until the day great Incheon colonizes every region of the Korean Peninsula, nyaang!

└ YYY: Hunter Kim Geuk, please.

After graciously providing some fan service, I kept scrolling through Huntweb when one post caught my eye.

Ⓢ Kang: Today's Justice Served: An Eye for an Eye, a Tooth for a Tooth

It was an ordinary title, but the view count was strangely high. Why?

Looking closer, the badge beside the author's name was no ordinary badge. Just as the Ⓐ badge proved someone was an A-rank awakened person, the Ⓢ badge did the same.

S-rank... My God.

Was his name Kang Jun-chi? As if possessed, I clicked on the post.

A video was attached. When I pressed play, it began.

A middle-aged man walking past threw trash into the bed of a parked truck. A crumpled cigarette pack and cigarette butts.

“That fucking bastard?”

The young man filming the video scowled.

He was famous. Kang Jun-chi, Korea's only S-rank awakened person.

Kang Jun-chi secretly followed the middle-aged man, then found out where he lived.

Kang Jun-chi charged in. When he tore off the door to the third-floor apartment, the interior was revealed.

“What? Who are you?!”

The middle-aged man who had thrown the trash and a middle-aged woman who appeared to be his wife screamed in surprise. Teenagers who seemed to be their children froze in terror as Kang Jun-chi shouted.

“‘Who am I?’ My ass, you fucking bastard! You dumped trash in my truck, and now you’re acting all shameless?!”

The objects around him answered Kang Jun-chi's anger.

The furniture and belongings in the house crumpled as if compressed into a single point. A microwave turned into a small ball in the blink of an eye...

A wardrobe floated up and blocked the door the middle-aged woman had been trying to flee through. As she screamed again, the middle-aged man picked up the shotgun he had propped beside the door and aimed it.

“What the hell are you?! Hands up, bastard, hands...”

Even the shotgun crumpled on its own, and the middle-aged man's face went blank.

Then Kang Jun-chi's punishment began. It was so simple and raw that I'd never even seen a story like it online.

“You fucking bastard, dumping trash in someone else's truck!”

The middle-aged man's body rose into the air. Bang, bang. His body slammed repeatedly into the ceiling and floor.

“How dare you play the victim? How dare you, you bastard!”

Kang Jun-chi shouted every time the man's body struck something. His shouts were full of emotion.

Only after the middle-aged man fainted did Kang Jun-chi stop shouting. Then the camera turned toward the window.

Something bizarre began outside.

Trash that had been dumped and abandoned in one corner of the neighborhood, trash that had piled up into what was almost a small hill, rose into the air and flew toward the house.

Crash, crash. The trash smashed through the windows and piled into the house. It filled the small room, the living room, and the bathroom to the brim.

Sirens started blaring when the house was about half full of trash.

“Is something going on? Is there a problem?”

A voice came from outside the door. Then, with a strained groan, the door blocked by the wardrobe burst open.

Two police officers armed with assault rifles and body armor appeared.

They looked at Kang Jun-chi. One officer apparently decided Kang Jun-chi was behind this chaotic situation. The officer pointed a gun at Kang Jun-chi and shouted, “Hands up!”

But the other officer recognized Kang Jun-chi.

“Hey, hey. That's Kang Jun-chi...”

“Urgh!”

The officer who had said Kang Jun-chi's name clutched their stomach and groaned, as though an invisible fist had punched them.

Kang Jun-chi snapped at the officer.

“It’s Mr. Kang Jun-chi, asshole! What gives you cops the right to casually call a citizen by name?”

The officer who had aimed a gun at Kang Jun-chi seemed to recognize the name too.

There was no attempt to retaliate for what had happened to their fellow officer. They quietly lowered the gun they had been holding as if they were about to fire at any moment.

Unbelievably, the police didn't seem to have any intention of arresting or stopping Kang Jun-chi.

“What are you looking at? Aren't you going to get lost?”

When Kang Jun-chi barked at them, the two officers looked at each other, then slowly backed away. Covering their faces with their palms as though mindful of the camera, they turned around and fled.

That was the end of the two officers' appearance in the video.

The middle-aged woman trembling in the corner saw it too. Her face, already full of fear, fell into despair.

With the obstruction gone, Kang Jun-chi gestured as if he were about to get serious. Water began pouring from the faucet, then rose into the air and covered the unconscious middle-aged man's face.

The man came to with a groan. Kang Jun-chi smiled.

About five minutes later, all the man's hair and eyebrows had been pulled out, along with every fingernail and toenail. An invisible force had ripped all of them from his body.

The man fainted again, and the camera moved back. It showed the whole house, or rather, the mountain of trash that filled it so completely there wasn't even room to set foot inside.

For the family to clear all that trash, working hard together wouldn't be nearly enough. They would have to hire several workers. At a glance, it would cost millions of won. Their household didn't look well-off to begin with, so it would be a serious expense.

Amazingly, all of it was retaliation for throwing trash into the bed of a truck.

“If you dump trash again, you're dead. Seriously.”

With those words, Kang Jun-chi walked out of the trash-filled house.

The video ended.

After watching it, I was shocked. It was a fresh kind of shock, one that struck deep inside my head.

The “justice served” in the video was certainly provocative, but the content itself wasn't what appealed to me. I couldn't easily get immersed in it because I felt sorry for the middle-aged woman and teenagers who had gotten caught up in it for no reason.

There was another scene that had made me watch so intently I felt like I was being sucked into the video.

The scene where the police arrived, then simply left as if nothing had happened...

Had Mr. Im Hyeongtaek once said that S-rank Hunters acted as though they were above the law?

I'd thought that meant S-rank Hunters, like powerful people, quietly avoided legal punishment as members of society's uppermost class.

Even if they committed illegal acts, they wouldn't be charged, or would get a quiet suspension of indictment. Something like that.

Seeing it now, that wasn't what it meant. Words like “quietly,” “swept under the rug,” or “on the sly” didn't suit any of those actions or results.

Kang Jun-chi in the video committed all that violence openly, even uploaded a video containing every one of his illegal acts publicly online, and still received no punishment.

I searched for it, but there were no internet articles about the incident at all. There were no articles saying Kang Jun-chi had been charged either.

The police who had witnessed a crime scene and simply withdrawn without taking any action apparently took no action at all after the video was uploaded.

Ⓢ Kang: I spent eight hours lying in wait without eating to film a sea roach dumping trash in my truck, and it was worth it lol

Was he not afraid of any consequences at all? Even now, Kang Jun-chi was replying to comments on his post.

I logged out and asked.

Anonymous: That video was really entertaining, but I have a question! Doesn't it get taken down?

Ⓢ Kang: After it got deleted once ages ago, I stormed the company’s headquarters and went on a rampage. It's never been taken down since lol

Anonymous: That's fucking awesome...

Ⓢ Kang: Heh, you're a sea roach who knows what's what

I decided not to ask what the hell a sea roach was. I just followed the link at the bottom of the post.

Kang Jun-chi had his own dedicated channel on a Korean streaming site.

After looking through the videos there, I learned that Kang Jun-chi had consistently filmed videos similar to the one I'd just watched for over a year. In other words, he had kept carrying out that so-called justice.

Just the titles of his uploaded videos were unbelievably provocative.

“Broke Both Legs of an Old Hag Jaywalking”

“Pulled Out One Eye of a Woman Who Cut in Line at the Mart and Played Dumb”

“Made a Fucking Bastard Smoking on the Street Eat Two Cartons of Cigarettes”

“Conquering a High School Part 1, Stormed the School Attended by High Schoolers Who Flipped Me Off and Ran”

“Conquering a High School Part 2, Pulled Out All Their Eyebrows, Hair, Fingernails, and Toenails”

The uploaded videos also had incredibly high view counts. They all had tens of thousands of views. This wasn't something that could be hidden even if someone wanted to hide it.

And yet no government agency had punished him at all?
