[Post title] Title: Ludwig vs. Kkobong

[Author] Wild Grylls

[Post] (Photo of Ludwig and Kkobong facing off)

[Post] A human who can beat a gorilla versus a gorilla that learned human martial arts.

[Post] Who do you think will win? Honestly, I think Ludwig will win.

└ [Heavenly Demon]: I too believe this Ludwig fellow will win.

└ [Wild Grylls]: Kkobong's pretty skilled too, though?

└ [Heavenly Demon]: That is true, but I hear Ludwig has reached full mastery. Besides, Kkobong's problem is that it gets excited too easily.

└ [SwordTasteMaster]: I don't think Ludwig will lose either. I've sparred with him before, and his technique was incredible.

└ [Wild Grylls]: Did you win?

└ [SwordTasteMaster]: I can't tell you that. Since it was a sparring match, it's hard to say who won or lost. Still, I had quite a hard time.

└ [DontAbandonTheHero]: You lost! As far as I know, Ash is the only person Ludwig has ever cleanly lost to!

└ [Wild Grylls]: I think this every time I see you, but you seem to trust Ludwig a lot?

└ [DontAbandonTheHero]: He's the Holy Kingdom's greatest holy knight! Countless holy knights were raised under Ludwig's guidance!

└ [Wild Grylls]: That's a relief. I guess I can just learn whatever Ludwig teaches me.

└ [DontAbandonTheHero]: Why not take this chance to learn faith too?!

└ [Wild Grylls]: No.

└ Sharp as a knife lmao

└ Before Grylls, I'm curious whether Ludwig even has faith lol

└ He probably does. He met Grylls in that hellish place.

└ [DontAbandonTheHero]: Don't say such horrible things, everyone!

└ [PrincessChaenggu]: What about the pointsies this time?

└ Oh shit. The point addict is here;;

└ Isn't she actually addicted to points lmao

└ Honestly, I do want to though lol

└ Grylls, hurry up and open the betting!

The spar between Ludwig and Kkobong drew quite a lot of attention.

Just as I wrote in the post, it was a match between a human who could beat a gorilla and a gorilla that had learned human martial arts.

Having fought both of them, I thought Kkobong had the advantage.

There were two reasons for that. The first was Kkobong's eyes.

Its poor eyesight, once its weakness, had been corrected now that it wore glasses.

The second was Ludwig's mobility. He probably hadn't fully adapted to his prosthetic leg yet.

Kkobong likely knew that too and would target that weakness.

“Wonmo. Who do you think will win?”

“Kyuu?”

I sat some distance away, holding Wonmo in my arms.

Wonmo tilted his head at my question, then broke into a bright smile when I stroked his chin.

As expected of our shelter's mascot, he was adorable. I wanted to keep petting him like this.

Swish!

The spar had begun in the meantime. Kkobong moved first.

Even without mana, Kkobong was quite agile.

That was probably a form of martial arts too. Ludwig had shown similar movements earlier.

Whoosh!

A palm as large as a person's head flew toward Ludwig's face.

Ludwig's eyes widened slightly, surprised by the speed.

But only for a moment. Right before the palm struck, Ludwig turned his head.

The instant he turned, he counterattacked with a smooth, flowing motion.

“Ooh!”

Kkobong immediately leaped backward as the counterattack came flying.

It seemed to have expected an immediate counterattack.

Ludwig quickly closed in and slashed at Kkobong with his sword.

As a gorilla, Kkobong presented a broad target. Even a simple hit could deal major damage.

Clang!

But it handled the attack skillfully.

It knocked the sword aside with a fist as hard as iron.

I knew its fists were tough, but I hadn't expected them to ring like metal.

‘If that had hit me, my head really would have burst.’

Ludwig narrowed his eyes, apparently realizing that Kkobong's strength and technique were no joke.

Kkobong was no different. It showed a different pattern from when it fought me.

Its accuracy had originally been terrible because it couldn't see properly.

That was why it had stuck to a method of setting its stance, striking, then setting its stance again before striking.

It still set its stance whenever it launched a powerful attack.

But before that, it had started throwing quick, simple attacks like jabs to keep its opponent in check.

‘It's good, but now that I see it like this... I can spot another weakness.’

The Chief Gorilla had a similar weakness. Its legs were short.

Because of a gorilla's physical structure, it had no choice but to plant both fists on the ground.

That meant its balance was relatively unstable when it stood on two legs.

Thud!

Ludwig targeted that weakness too. He feinted a slash, then hooked Kkobong's leg.

And he did it with his Mithril prosthetic leg, not his good foot.

It was practically like taking a hammer to the shin.

“Uwoooogh!!!”

Forget balance. Kkobong cried out in pain after getting hit in the shin.

Ludwig apparently hadn't expected that either, and he jumped back in surprise.

“That hurts!”

“@#%$#”

At Kkobong's grumbling, Ludwig reached out a hand and apologized.

The spar began again. Surprisingly, Ludwig had quite a hard time.

Maybe because Kkobong had learned from the Blood Demon, it knew how to fight people.

‘Well, its sparring partner was the Blood Demon. Ludwig must be relatively easy.’

I didn't know how strong the Blood Demon was, but I knew they were the worst villain in Central Plains history.

They were said to kill people more easily than they ate.

Most of the Martial World's fighters had even joined forces just to capture that one person.

The aftermath had lowered the average skill level of martial artists by a huge amount.

‘Neither can use mana. This is a pure battle of technique.’

Thinking it over point by point, the spar was higher-level than expected.

It was enough to make me want to munch on popcorn.

Claaang!

Kkobong's fist collided with Ludwig's sword.

Maybe it was because of the Mithril prosthetic leg, or maybe Ludwig's lower body was simply strong.

Ludwig didn't get pushed back. He held his ground firmly.

“#$%#”

Ludwig muttered something. As usual, I couldn't understand him.

But Kkobong, standing right in front of him, seemed to sense something dangerous and leaped backward.

Slash!

“Huh?”

The moment Kkobong retreated, Ludwig charged in at lightning speed.

He was much faster than when he sparred with me.

How could someone who couldn't use mana and had trouble with one leg move that fast?

I was becoming more and more curious about how strong he had been outside the forest.

‘How does he use that technique?’

That technique that let him approach as if he were sliding. I kind of wanted it.

Was that the lightness art martial arts stories always talked about, or some other technique?

No matter what martial art it was, footwork mattered most. Both Heavenly Demon and SwordTasteMaster agreed on that.

I hugged Wonmo tightly and watched the spar with fascination.

Shing! Whoosh! Whirl!

I could clearly hear the sword slicing through the wind. What did that mean?

Ludwig was completely dominating Kkobong.

Kkobong retreated whenever an attack came, but it didn't mean much.

‘Wow. He's attacking and using movement techniques at the same time?’

Ludwig swung his sword while gliding forward.

Thinking about it, I had often attacked while standing still until now.

Kkobong had been the same. Rather than retreat, it would just circle around its opponent.

Both of them were freely using not just forward and backward movement, but side-to-side movement as well.

‘...How did I beat Kkobong?’

Was the eyesight penalty really that huge, or was it because of the cold energy?

Watching Kkobong fight like this, I couldn't even guess how I had beaten it.

Still, one thing was clear.

Swish-

“...I lost.”

“#%##”

Ludwig was more technically skilled than Kkobong.

Once Ludwig showed a little of what he could really do, Kkobong was helplessly overwhelmed.

Kkobong looked frustrated, but it accepted its defeat cleanly.

It would have thrown a fit if it had lost to me, insisting that was impossible, but it showed Ludwig respect.

“#$%%#$%%”

“I don't know. Learn the language.”

Ludwig said something, but Kkobong gave a vague reply and trudged away.

Ludwig then brought out his notebook like before and scribbled in it.

He seemed to be giving feedback on Kkobong. I was curious what he had written.

“%$”

“Thank you.”

I took the paper from him and immediately accessed the Gallery.

Roughly translated, it said this.

[I don't know which madman taught martial arts to a gorilla, but whoever it was is certainly quite accomplished as a martial artist. However, as it is a gorilla, its lower body is short and weak. Each individual cog is sturdy, but they do not mesh with the other cogs.]

As expected of a teacher who had trained holy knights, it was easy to understand.

Martial arts were originally techniques optimized for humans, so there were parts that didn't fit when adapted for a gorilla.

Its lower body in particular was too weak, so the weakness had been exposed quickly.

‘Would the Chief Gorilla be similar?’

I told Kkobong exactly that.

It couldn't read yet, so I had no choice but to explain it verbally.

I had some trouble explaining it because of the figurative language.

“Understood. I will fix it.”

“You understood that?”

“The sizes don't fit. That's what it means.”

Kkobong really was smart.

After I told the Gallery the result, all the sparring matches were over.

No. I only thought they were over.

“#%#%^”

Until Ludwig pointed at Fast Sloth, who had been silently watching.

He even openly pointed at it with the sword in his hand.

I was only shocked for a moment, because Fast Sloth surprisingly crawled forward.

It seemed to have vaguely expected Ludwig to point at it.

Slowly. Slowly.

But it was fucking slow.

In the end, I saved time by carrying it over myself.

And so Ludwig and Fast Sloth faced each other.

Ludwig was probably curious why a sloth was here.

Wonmo was one thing, being our designated adorable mascot, but Fast Sloth was unexpected.

‘Maybe he noticed how strong Fast Sloth is?’

This was no time for that. I couldn't keep this rare sight to myself.

[Post title] Title: Ludwig vs. Fast Sloth

[Author] Wild Grylls

[Post] (Photo of Ludwig and Fast Sloth facing off)

[Post] Who will win this time? I really don't know.

└ [Heavenly Demon]: Even I do not know. This will be an interesting fight.

└ [SwordTasteMaster]: Both of them are experienced in combat, so it's hard to say.

└ I think Fast Sloth will win.

└ Come on. No matter what, Ludwig will win lol

└ Fast Sloth will turn him into Lu/d/wig with those fucking claws lol

└ [DontAbandonTheHero]: Ludwig will win!

└ [PrincessChaenggu]: What about the pointsies?

└ [KingLeor]: Stop it;; You'll really become an addict at this rate.

└ Wow. First time I've seen KingLeor stop PrincessChaenggu lol

└ So this is what a gambling addict looks like lmao

Even Heavenly Demon and SwordTasteMaster said they didn't know.

Meanwhile, Ludwig and Fast Sloth remained facing each other.

Neither made the first move. They seemed to be only feeling each other out.

‘Who will make the first move...’

That was when it happened.

Fwoosh!

Without either one moving first, both figures disappeared.

Good thing I had practiced tracking fast movements. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to follow them at all.

What entered my sight next was...

“...”

“...”

The two of them had their weapons aimed at each other's vital points.

Fast Sloth's claws were aimed at Ludwig's heart, while Ludwig's sword pointed at Fast Sloth's head.

At first glance, it looked like a draw, but a closer look showed that a victor had been decided.

‘Fast Sloth's claws... are closer.’

Ludwig's sword stopped slightly short, while Fast Sloth's claws had just barely reached him.

Both were known for their speed, so the contest had apparently ended that way.

It looked as if two Western outlaws had drawn their guns while facing each other.

“%$%^”

“...”

They each withdrew their weapons.

Fast Sloth looked relaxed as always, while Ludwig's face had stiffened slightly.

Like before, Ludwig took out a piece of paper, wrote a brief note, and handed it to me.

“%^%^?”

“Pardon?”

“%^^@%”

As expected, I had no idea what he was saying.

I was puzzled, but I posted on the Gallery first.

Then I roughly realized what Ludwig had said to me.

└ They say there's a real monster here?

└ [Wild Grylls]: A real monster?

└ Yeah. He says he probably would have lost even if he had mana.

└ [Wild Grylls]: ;;;

He had asked how I had managed to survive.

How had I survived with a monster like that around?

There was only one answer I could give.

‘By offering tribute, I guess.’

I really was lucky.
