[Post] As of today, I officially declare that Fast Sloth and Wonmo have become fans of Chames United.

└ [Fast Sloth]: looks fucking miserable about it lmao

└ [Wonmo]: just looks confused lmao He's cute as hell lmao

└ Why do they suit those jerseys so well lmao

└ Did PrincessChaenggu give you a kids' one too?

└ [Wild Grylls]: Yeah. It'd be awkward for me to wear one, so I tried putting it on them. I'll take it off if they don't like it.

└ Ah. The whole world is Chaeyu...

└ [Starlight Princess]: Should I raise an Owlbear too? It's so cute...!

└ [Wild Grylls]: It'll be fine as long as you feed it well. And it's seriously cute.

└ [Starlight Princess]: I'd like to raise one and name it Gymbie.

└ [Wild Grylls]: Ma'am?

“Hehehe.”

Kaelin, the princess of Mephisto, let out a satisfied laugh as she read Grylls's post.

She normally maintained an imperious attitude, but that was only in her everyday life.

On the Gallery, where she could freely express every emotion, she was not much different from anyone else.

“He really is cute. Just look at that chubby body.”

Even Kaelin could not resist anything cute. In truth, almost nobody badmouthed Wonmo.

Badmouth Wonmo? Then they had better be prepared to be showered with every curse imaginable.

Some users even clamored for Grylls to post photos of Wonmo instead of himself.

‘At least I won't have to worry about clothes for a while.’

There was no grand reason why she had given Grylls the jerseys.

She had enough jerseys to trip over, and she was personally interested in Grylls.

As a princess, Kaelin had heard every kind of honeyed word imaginable.

She was more than capable of telling whether someone's words were sincere or false.

‘It's been a long time since someone's words made me feel their sincerity.’

There were quite a few reasons Kaelin liked Grylls.

For one, he genuinely supported Chaeyu, the team she supported. His determination to repay her somehow also left an impression.

When she told him there was no need to repay her, he even fidgeted like a puppy that needed to pee.

Every little thing he said and did left Kaelin with a good impression.

Even with anonymity guaranteed on the Gallery, Grylls was polite and well-mannered.

‘Is that because he's in danger if people don't like him?’

Maybe that was it.

If he ever escaped the Forest of Four Seasons, he might clam up and ignore everyone.

She did not mind. At least it meant that, while he was in the Forest of Four Seasons, he would remain a good person.

‘Still, something is strange. Did he really come from another world?’

Regardless, she could not help being interested in Grylls.

Grylls had once said that he came from another world. At the time, it had been written off as part of his act.

Kaelin had thought it was an act too. Grylls knew a great deal about sports, after all.

That was why she had assumed it was an act, but the proposal he brought up was genuinely astonishing.

‘A tournament based on one's home territory, rather than clubs founded around local affiliations. And held once every four years?’

The tournament Grylls had mentioned, the World Cup, stuck with Kaelin.

He had explained it as though such a tournament actually existed. She could not help paying attention.

‘The pride of representing one's territory. The honor earned by defeating the other representatives. The rarity of holding it once every four years. Every part of it sounds appealing.’

There had once been a tournament proposed in Mephisto.

The idea was for each race to form a representative team and hold a global sports competition.

It had received quite a positive response, but it had fallen through for various reasons.

The differences between races were one problem, but the pressure was overwhelming.

The competition was not merely fierce but cutthroat. Even if someone fought their way through it, politics would inevitably get involved.

It was an honor no different from a poisoned chalice. That was why the plan had eventually faded away.

‘It would probably get an enormous response from humans too.’

Humans had an incredibly low floor, but their ceiling was high enough to break through the sky.

That applied to sports as well, and countless humans were currently active players.

Human players frequently transferred to Mephisto and went on to perform brilliantly.

Their prime was relatively short because of their short lifespans and aging. That could not be helped.

Still, in that brief period, they swept up every award there was, crushing demonkind's pride day after day.

Demonkind had recently lost in a tournament where clubs from every country faced one another, had they not?

Demonkind and elves played the long game, while humans burned bright and fast.

‘Did he really come from another world?’

She had initially dismissed it as nonsense, but there were too many suspicious details.

There was the fact that he could use the Gallery in the Forest of Chaos, and the vast range of knowledge he possessed.

‘Even so, it doesn't change the fact that he's a Chaeyu fan.’

Her doubts kept leading to more doubts, but Kaelin quickly stopped thinking about it.

She wanted to have a deeper conversation with Grylls, but his survival was more important.

It would hurt her heart if a fellow Chaeyu fan died so pointlessly.

‘I wish those Medes Family bastards knew about Grylls too.’

Would it not be wonderful if the Medes Family gave Grylls their full support?

His chances of survival would rise dramatically, and they would get plenty of advertising value out of it too.

But the Medes Family only cared about making money. They would not concern themselves with someone like Grylls.

‘I want to pressure them, but... Damn politics.’

Kaelin shook her head.

Sports were as simple as could be for people who simply enjoyed them.

The deeper one got involved, the more complicated and filthy they became.

That was why Kaelin preferred enjoying sports to getting tangled up in their inner workings.

Even with that mindset, watching Chaeyu matches still made her blood boil, though that was true for everyone.

Getting angry because the team one supported played like absolute shit was universal across nations and species.

‘Please don't lose without putting up a fight. Or at least score one goal.’

Kaelin recalled the match taking place soon. Their opponent was Leor, a team she could not stand the sight of.

The gap in strength between Leor, which had become a powerhouse, and the declining Chaeyu was glaring.

Still, football was always full of surprises, so she held onto a sliver of hope.

‘I should say I'm going into mental cultivation in two days.’

There was one benefit to getting absorbed in sports. There was no need to practice mental cultivation separately.

Why would she need it when watching sports was mental cultivation itself? Thinking that, Kaelin started walking.

“Hmm?”

“Ah.”

While walking down the hall, she came face to face with someone.

The figure before her had demonkind's distinctive blue skin, Inverted Eyes, horns growing from his head, and a face that was undeniably handsome.

“I greet you, Father.”

Kaelin greeted him politely and with proper etiquette.

Asmode, who was notorious throughout the world as the Demon King, was Kaelin's biological father and the king who ruled Mephisto.

“Yes, Kaelin. Has anything happened?”

“What could possibly happen to me? Every day is the same as always.”

“I see. Where are you headed?”

“I was planning to make preparations for mental cultivation in two days.”

I'm going to watch Chaeyu's match in two days. That was what Kaelin thought.

Asmode nodded at her words, then spoke in a stiff tone.

“It seems your days of mental cultivation have increased lately. Is something troubling you?”

“My worries are insignificant compared to yours, Father. You shoulder the responsibility for Mephisto's decisions every day.”

Chaeyu plays so fucking badly. I feel like I'm going to get cancer and die from the stress.

Kaelin screamed inwardly again.

Asmode nodded and offered her a few comforting words.

“Do not push yourself too hard. Before you are a princess, you are my daughter. If you need help, tell me anytime.”

“I appreciate you saying that. But...”

Kaelin stared at Asmode's face.

Things must have been going well lately, because his expression had softened considerably.

In the past, he wore a stiff expression every day, which had been terrifying.

On top of that, just like Kaelin now, he had been busy with mental cultivation every day.

“Have you attained enlightenment, Father? It seems you have fewer days of mental cultivation now.”

“Yes. Mephisto is doing well too, and nothing but good things have been happening, so my heart has become lighter.”

“I see.”

How enviable. Truly enviable.

One person was rotting away inside every day, while another had attained enlightenment.

Still, she did not think it was unfair. She had no one to blame but herself.

‘It's my own fault for being a Chaeyu fan.’

She had no intention of taking her frustrations out on an innocent person.

“Then I hope your cultivation bears good fruit.”

“Thank you, Father. What will you be doing?”

“I have training in two days as well. It may be the most important training of all.”

“I'm sure you will achieve a good result, Father.”

“Thank you for the kind words. I should be going now.”

Asmode gave Kaelin's shoulder a couple of pats as he passed by.

Kaelin watched his retreating back, then started walking too.

‘If they lose again...’

The thought alone was horrifying. The Gallery would surely be flooded with an unbelievable amount of mockery.

What worried her most, though, was Grylls. Would he be disappointed after seeing Chaeyu's terrible performance?

She pictured other registered users finding out about his disappointment, especially KingLeor gently luring him away.

└ [KingLeor]: Why not support our Leor instead of a team like that? I'll even give you a jersey.

└ [Wild Grylls]: Thanks. Actually, I've been a Leor fan for a while.

└ [KingLeor]: Now. Say it. Chaeyu is?

└ [Wild Grylls]: Exactly where they belong, mid-table?

└ [KingLeor]: Very good!

‘That cannot happen!’

How could she keep Grylls a Chaeyu fan?

Kaelin kept a blank face as she worried inwardly.

No matter how important she was, she was still just another sports fan.

‘I will watch and see if he changes his mind.’

Without Grylls even knowing, Kaelin's test had begun.

* * *

‘What? Something feels off.’

I looked around. All I could see were trees.

I wondered if some beast was hiding and watching me, but I couldn't find anything.

Fast Sloth wasn't reacting either, so it was probably just my imagination.

‘Let's see. How well did it turn out?’

There was something more important than that: the tripod I had made after seeing Starlight Princess's post.

It was time to check whether all the meat hanging from it had finished smoking.

It could take as little as one or two hours, or at most ten hours.

Since time was life for me, I had chosen to raise the temperature a bit.

“Wow. Look at that color.”

The color alone passed the test. It had the distinctive color of smoked meat, and the smell was incredible.

I tore a piece of meat in half to see whether it was cooked through. It was nicely browned all the way inside.

The inside passed too, but taste was what mattered most.

There was still time before dinner, so one bite should be fine.

“Nom.”

I bit into the smoked tiger meat.

They said carnivores usually had a gamey smell, but perhaps because I had smoked it, I couldn't smell any of that.

Or maybe I'm just not a picky eater.

It tasted pretty good too. The juices flowed out, and the texture was excellent.

“Nngh...! Phew! Phew!”

It was insanely salty, though.

I had cured it before smoking, so that couldn't be helped.

‘It'll be hard for Wonmo to eat.’

Raw meat would be much better for Wonmo.

I hung the finished smoked meat deeper inside the cave.

The cave was relatively cool, so it was better than leaving it outside.

‘And I need to cook the other meat.’

There was still plenty left to smoke. I was especially busy today.

By the time I had finished everything I needed to do, the sun had set and it was evening.

Dinner was the smoked meat I had made today. One piece would be enough.

“Wonmo. Time to eat.”

“Kyuu!”

As soon as it was mealtime, Wonmo came over with his eyes sparkling.

Wonmo in that children's jersey was cuter than I could have imagined.

Just looking at him made me want to wrap him in a tight hug. I think I understood why people put clothes on their pets.

‘Fast Sloth, well...’

Fast Sloth seemed to hate it, so I took the jersey off right away.

If I had not, it might have shredded it with its claws. Riiip! Riiip!

Anyway, today had been another productive day.

Tomorrow, I planned to catch crabs for the dwarf and explore the area.

‘If I keep making progress bit by bit, I'll find a clue eventually, right?’

Holding onto that tiny bit of hope, I fell asleep.

Completely unaware of what would happen the next day.
