◈ I Made a Tier List the Transcendents Are Obsessed With ◈
Chapter 28: Escaping Reality
──────
The protagonist, Judy, standing before me now, was sharp.
She had talents outstanding in every respect. In just a few years, she would probably see through lies like mine, which would not even qualify as the work of a prodigy.
"Ah, then you've remembered me for a really long time."
"I was always thinking about you. I only found you again recently, but... if I'd known you were in a situation like this, I should've looked sooner."
For now, though, she was only twelve years old.
With a little Illusion Magic and careful guidance of her memories, she completely fell for what I told her.
To Judy, I was now like a Daddy-Long-Legs figure who had watched over her for a long time.
The story went roughly like this.
I had occasionally visited the Murphy Family because I had ties to them, and I had met Judy a few times when I was young.
Later, I heard that the Murphy Family had fallen and that Judy had been sold off. I tried to find her, but failed.
Only recently had I finally found her and rescued her.
More than half of it came from things Judy had said first, while I wove in my imagination to create this flimsy tale.
Still, a twelve-year-old girl completely believed it.
She was at an age where that could not be helped.
Once a memory was planted, it was not easily changed with time.
Even later in life, this little scene I had placed in her mind would remain.
"No, just the fact that you came looking for me... I'm so grateful."
Her voice tried to sound composed, but it was wet with tears.
Until now, the distance and tension between us had let her hold it in. It seemed she could not endure it any longer.
That was only natural.
As I had said, she was merely twelve years old.
No matter how extraordinary she might be, before realizing her true nature, she was nothing more or less than a somewhat mature child.
Her fate had been cruelly ordained.
In one form or another, everything around her would be destroyed.
Everyone and everything she cherished and loved would be shattered to pieces.
That cycle of rebirth would repeat.
She would accumulate Karma time and again, trapped in a cycle of pain every time.
Judy maintained a composed expression as we exchanged a few words.
But at some point, the emotions she had been holding back spilled out, and tears fell.
"Waaah... Waaah... Hic..."
Her cries burst forth as though she were releasing a breath she had held in.
She naturally fell into my arms. I patted her back and waited until she stopped crying.
A small, light, utterly fragile child.
Would anyone believe me if I told them what she would become one day?
I could not help thinking that.
She cried and cried for a long time.
After crying until her voice turned hoarse and pouring out all her pent-up grief in tears, she finally closed her eyes.
At some point, I cast Sleep Magic.
"...Sleep well."
After laying the quietly sleeping Judy in bed, I left my private room.
My heart did not feel particularly at ease, so I decided to stop thinking about her misfortune.
From now on, I only needed to build good memories with her.
Instead, I pulled out another thought that had crossed my mind.
Would anyone believe that Judy was destined to one day become unmistakably the strongest?
After considering that thought a little longer, I suddenly reached an unexpected conclusion.
"...I think they would."
There were people who would probably gobble it up with great enthusiasm even if I served them red-bean porridge made from shit.
And those lunatics generally occupied positions comparable to the rulers of this world. In terms of a country, they would be members of parliament at the very least, or even ministers and vice ministers.
Suddenly, I began to realize what I had been doing.
Of course, it was not entirely my influence, but was I stripping Transcendents of their humanity and intelligence in real time...?
That was truly a terror spanning the entire universe...
"Hm. Let's not think about it."
The more I thought about it, the scarier it became, so I decided to empty my mind of every thought.
In other words, I was escaping reality.
The people who spent all day talking about poop, pee, and boobs in the Gallery could not possibly be rulers of dimensions or adjudicators who had wiped out dozens of galaxies, right?
"...Heh heh."
The state of the world, summarized in one sentence, was utterly grim. But surely it was not my fault.
Firmly believing that, I erased every trace of conscience and responsibility from my heart.
* * *
This was a story from a bygone era, when conflicts had been more frequent.
That was, a time when the order of the Great Heavenly World had been more chaotic than it was now.
There was once something called the Round Table Council.
The strongest beings from each dimension would sit around a round table and rule on matters that could not be resolved through the punishments of causality.
In those days, countless Transcendents paid close attention to every regular meeting.
Of course, similar groups still existed now.
But their authority had fallen greatly.
Instead, something had emerged that attracted equal, if not greater, interest.
The Multidimensional Transcendent Gallery.
A carefully crafted community created with the help of one anonymous Absolute-Rank Divinity and several Supreme Divinities.
...In truth, it had not held much influence at first.
- Why use the Gallery? It costs karma.
- This system definitely has some trick to exploit its users.
- I sense one massive conspiracy. Not pubic hair...
- So, does the Gallery have lots of female forms?
To begin with, exchanges between dimensions had not been common.
Within the Great Heavenly World of the same dimension, other means of communication were faster and more familiar. Many Transcendents were also unfamiliar with communities in the first place.
Besides, most of them had no daily lives worth sharing.
The world after transcendence was more boring than one might expect.
That was why they spent every day enjoying themselves through avatar bodies, or visiting the sects and guilds beneath them whenever they were bored to interfere and tell them what to do.
Eventually, even that became tiresome.
So there was little worth discussing in the Gallery, and trying to share an interesting unknown story consumed huge amounts of karma.
Usage remained low for quite some time.
[ The Round Table Council will cease all activities as of today. ]
But afterward, two events expanded its standing.
One was the Round Table Council's dissolution.
Even the little entertainment that had periodically existed disappeared.
The second was the easing of the law of causality that came with the stabilization of thirteen dimensions.
Major wars and conflicts gradually came to an end, and each dimension became relatively stable.
Along with that, the Gallery's user count began to grow little by little.
Its number of users increased to a degree incomparable to its earliest days.
That was how the Multidimensional Transcendent Gallery endured.
"...What is this?"
Kalendorf, the Commander-in-Chief of the Seventh Dimension, who knew all that history, logged into the Gallery.
It had been roughly nine years since Kalendorf had deployed to an Upper Realm Species War using an avatar body.
"What are they talking about?"
Kalendorf remembered the Gallery's atmosphere.
Even back then, the Transcendent Gallery had contained no small amount of vulgarity.
Unless they had some connection, Transcendents at the level of Lower Divinities were hardly invited. Familiar names were exchanged between members, and over time it had become like a neighborhood gathering place.
But the current sight was on another level.
It was hard to believe such a change had occurred in merely nine years.
"...And why are there so many posts?"
If there was one positive change, it was that posts and comments were pouring in so heavily that "flooding" felt like the right word.
But in Kalendorf's eyes, everything else had regressed.
- Waaaah... My horn hurt, so I cried...
- This is the biggest shock since the deputy sect leader stabbed me in the back during the Upper Realm days.
- Oz isn't a baby...
ㄴThey never were a baby, dumbass...
ㄴBut Oz has a baby, right?
- But sometimes there are virgin conceptions, right? Please.
ㄴIt's possible, yeah.
ㄴJust give up. What virgin conception, lol.
- Come explain all the tattoos and childbirth already!!!!!!
"..."
Posts and comments Kalendorf could not understand and did not want to understand were everywhere.
Kalendorf immediately took off the clothes they were wearing and changed into the pajamas prepared at their residence.
"Only nine years, yet I have become this tired."
After around three or four years of sleep, their head would probably feel refreshed.
Repeating that inwardly, Kalendorf entered a deep sleep in their True Body.
...At the same time, one of the Seventh Dimension's higher deities was escaping reality in the real world.
[ Putting the clues together, Oz's ex-husband <<< this bastard is the craziest one. ]
Putting together Oz's actions and posts,
He had a child with an Absolute-Rank Divinity, then broke up with Oz and made Oz a single mother.
They did not see each other for a long time, but they started talking again lately because people had been discussing Oz.
Whatever charm he had, Oz fell for him all over again, got branded with an unwanted soul engraving, then bragged on the Gallery about the Spirit Beast received as a gift.
Today, it looks like he even went to see the child with Oz... What the hell is this bastard doing?
"That's what I want to ask, you crazy bastard."
Meanwhile, the person confronting the Gallery's reality was experiencing the greatest bewilderment of his life.
What kind of delusions were these people having?

The “conspiracy” comment reproduces a Korean pun where eum-mo can mean both “conspiracy” and “pubic hair.”
