◈ Monster Livestream Star ◈

Chapter 17: Encounter (4)

──────

The maid and knight were not the only ones who reacted to Jessie’s declaration.

▶She wants to raise it lol.

[Threadwork Madam]▶Malangi is cute enough to make anyone want to raise them~

[Noblesse Fire]▶Goblins look down on it, and humans treat it like a pet? Lol.

▶Look at Malangi’s level.

▶Hngh, I want somebody to raise me too...

▶Ah! Hooman sex!

▶That’s a bit...

▶Aren’t goblins the only ones into that?

▶Don’t leave out the orcs.

“What do you mean you want to raise a slime, Miss?!”

“It’s cute! And gentle! I want to take it home and raise it!”

“It’s dangerous! It’s a monster!”

“It’s only a slime. Pin told me about villages that raise monsters!”

“Pin!”

“I only told her so she wouldn’t get bored...”

Pin felt wronged.

Pin had never imagined Jessie would use the existence of villages that raised monsters as a reason to say she wanted to raise a slime.

“Miss, those villages can only raise slimes because they are gentle slimes accustomed to human hands.”

“But we touched this one, and it’s gentle too. Then wouldn’t it be fine? Hehe, Slime! Don’t you want me to raise you?”

Jessie smiled brightly as she stroked the slime.

The slime was delighted by her touch. At the same time, it grew curious about a word it had never heard before.

‘Raise?’

▷What is raising?

▶Ah, that means...

▶They give you food.

▷Food!

The slime trembled happily at the extremely abbreviated explanation.

“See? It’s happy that I said I’d raise it!”

▶Look how much it likes that lol.

▶Can’t resist food lol.

▶They’re not lying.

“No, Miss. If you take a monster home, the Count will surely be angry.”

“Will he? Other than going into the elf forest, Father grants me everything I want! It’ll definitely be fine!”

“Hmm...”

Nina wanted to argue right away, but even Nina had to admit that Count Ludendion was quite doting.

Other than letting Jessie meet Nellin the Starlight Archer, he had truly given her anything she wanted. Count Ludendion always treated Jessie with deep affection.

“You should touch it too, Nina! It’s really squishy!”

“Me?”

“If you touch it, you’ll understand how I feel too!”

Jessie grabbed Nina’s wrist and brought her hand to the slime.

“Wait! I-I’m scared!”

“It’s not scary! Pin is holding it tight.”

“...Pin. You absolutely cannot let go, all right?”

“Don’t worry about that.”

Nina placed her slightly trembling hand atop the slime.

“Huh?”

The moment she touched it, Nina felt its soft, squishy texture and began absentmindedly petting it.

‘What do I do? It’s really soft. This is a slime?’

The slime’s body had an irresistible charm that made Nina want to keep petting it the more Nina did.

The slime trembled with pleasure as Nina continued to stroke it. Its adorable appearance captured Nina’s heart.

“It does seem gentle.”

“Right? Then let’s take it home!”

“Ah! ...All right. But if the Count says no, you have to let it go right away. Understood?”

“Okay!”

“That will be all for today.”

After ending the slime show, the Slime Queen immediately turned off her broadcast without even checking the viewers’ chat. Then she promptly opened the Stream Directory.

‘Today should be the day my kin leaves the forest.’

Worried, the Slime Queen had watched Malangi’s stream continuously whenever possible.

However, after the slime evolved into a Bounce Slime and easily defeated a goblin, she was able to ease her worries somewhat.

‘Interfering too much is not good either.’

Believing the slime was safe while it remained in the forest, the Slime Queen had taken some “personal time.”

And today.

Thinking it was about time for the slime to leave the forest, the Slime Queen turned on Malangi’s stream.

The slime still was not skilled at using the system and did not really understand the concept of “privacy,” so it always kept the stream on. Thanks to that, the Slime Queen could enter the stream room without difficulty today as well.

And what the Slime Queen saw upon entering was...

“Nina, can’t you put it on my lap?”

“No, Miss. It might be dangerous, so I’ll hold it firmly in Pin’s place.”

“Is that holding it? You’re petting it. That’s not fair!”

“Ahem! It may look like I’m petting it, but I’m securing it properly. Look!”

The Slime Queen’s eyes widened at the sight of humans the moment she entered.

‘No, why are you with humans, my kin?!’

It was a completely unexpected situation.

The Slime Queen hurriedly typed in the chat.

[Jiggly Queen]▶My kin! What in the world is going on?! Why are you with humans?!

▷Humans! They said they’ll raise me!

“W-What, what, what did you say?!”

The Slime Queen was horrified by the slime’s immediate answer.

It was happily saying that a human would raise it!

‘Doesn’t a human raising a monster mean making it into a spectacle?! It’s dangerous! This is dangerous!’

The humans shown on other monster streams were usually people risking their lives to defeat monsters or hunters seeking to hunt them and make a spectacle of them.

Having only seen humans who handled monsters carelessly, the Slime Queen could not help worrying.

[Jiggly Queen]▶You followed them just because they said they would raise you?!

▷? Humans! Give food!

The slime’s innocent answer made the Slime Queen slap her own forehead.

Smack!

‘How could you obediently follow them just because they said they would give you food, my kin...! No, more importantly!’

[Jiggly Queen]▶There must have been people watching this! Why did no one stop it?!

[Threadwork Madam]▶But Malangi really is cute enough to make anyone want to raise them~.

▶Honestly, who cares whether it gets raised or not?

▶Lol, things will work out somehow lol.

▶Let us see the humans’ nest too lol.

▶22222

▶Hear, hear!

“T-These trolls!”

The Slime Queen ground her soft teeth at words from viewers who seemed not to care what happened so long as it was entertaining.

Normally, Kkanjuki or Fenrir would have stopped this even if she was not around.

The Slime Queen usually envied the two, but at this moment, she could not help regretting their absence.

Unaware of the Slime Queen’s fury, the slime eagerly anticipated what food the humans would give it.

“It’s so squishy! I never get tired of touching it!”

The affectionate touch delighted the slime even further.

‘This is no time to be so carefree, my kin!’

The Slime Queen’s heart burned as she watched.

The carriage arrived at Count Ludendion’s estate.

“Let’s go to my room quickly, Nina!”

“Miss, we should report to the Count first!”

“Pin can report for us, can’t they? I’m hungry! And this slime must be hungry too! So let’s have a snack!”

Jessie was being sly in her own way, worried that if she went to the Count, he might immediately tell her to get rid of the slime.

Nina saw right through her intentions and sighed as she held the slime.

“Haah... Pin, please report to the Count.”

“What? Are you really going to Miss’s room with her like this?”

“What else can I do? It stayed gentle the whole time we were traveling, so I don’t think it’s dangerous.”

“Nina! What are you doing? Hurry up!”

“Yes, Miss!”

Jessie took Nina and headed for her room.

‘Woooow!’

Brrrrrr!

The slime could not stop trembling with joy at the entirely different scenery from the forest it had known until now.

“Miss, this slime keeps trembling.”

“Isn’t it happy to have come to our house? Hehe, I guess slimes know what’s good too!”

“Is that it?”

On the way to her room, other servants in the estate saw Jessie, Nina, and the slime.

They looked once at cheerful Jessie, then once at the slime in Nina’s hands, and gave Nina sympathetic looks before pretending not to notice.

It seemed like something that would be resolved soon enough anyway.

Before entering the room, Nina told a maid cleaning nearby to bring snacks. Then Nina followed Jessie inside.

“Nina! Put the slime on the desk!”

“Will that be all right?”

“It’s been gentle this whole time. It’ll definitely be fine!”

Nina carefully placed the slime on the desk.

The moment it was freed from Nina’s hands, the slime turned its body little by little as it looked around Jessie’s room.

‘Amazing! Never seen this! Amazing!’

It was the first human room it had ever seen.

As befitted a noble young lady’s room, it looked splendid and elegant.

The slime did not have human standards of beauty. Still, it found the intricate designs and varied objects amazing.

▶Humans’ nests are needlessly complicated.

▶A nest only needs places to eat, sleep, and shit!

▶2222

[Noblesse Fire]▶Tsk, tsk, tsk. Even a cave should be decorated nicely if you want it to be livable!

▶Yeah, at the very least, it needs something that makes it your nest. Otherwise, it just looks like everyone else’s.

▶Isn’t it strange to obsess over things like that?

At the sight of a human estate for the first time, a debate began between those who believed nests should be left as they were and those who believed they should be decorated.

Naturally, the slime did not spare that muddy argument a glance.

It was too busy taking in the room full of colorful things, so different from the green-filled forest.

The slime could not hide its happiness.

‘New things! Lots! Happy!’

Boing! Boing!

The slime, which had been still until then, began bouncing atop the table.

“Eek! M-Miss!”

Seeing the slime suddenly begin to bounce, Nina hurriedly stepped in front of Jessie.

Nina thought the slime might leap at Jessie, so Nina was going to use Nina’s body as a shield.

But Nina’s effort came to nothing.

That was because the slime was merely bouncing happily on the table!

“Huh?”

“What’s wrong, Nina?”

“No, the slime suddenly started jumping...”

“It must be so happy to have come to our house! It has to be!”

Normally, Nina would have objected that there was no way that was true, but as Jessie said, there did seem to be a strange joy in the slime’s movements.

‘Really?’

“Nina, move aside a little. I can’t see the slime.”

After pushing Nina aside by the waist, Jessie spread her hands and spoke to the slime.

“Come here!”

‘?’

Jessie spread her hands and told it to come.

At her words, the slime stopped bouncing and tilted its body.

Jessie gave the slime a more specific instruction.

“Climb onto my hands!”

‘Climb on!’

Having climbed onto Nellin’s hand before, the slime remembered that experience and moved onto Jessie’s hands.

After evolving, it had perfectly learned how to control its strength. The slime landed precisely atop Jessie’s hands with a boing!

“Eek! Look, Nina! It’s gentle, and it listens so well!”

“Huh?”

Never mind that it was gentle, the movement seemed as though it understood Jessie’s words. Nina blinked in surprise.

“So... you brought home a slime.”

“Y-Yes, sir.”

The Count’s office.

A blond man with a stern air sat in a chair, looking at Pin.

This man was Rufus Ludendion, the ruler of Count Ludendion’s territory.

“I see. A slime. You brought it home because it seemed safe to you, did you not, Pin?”

Pin broke into a cold sweat beneath the Count’s quiet gaze and answered.

“It stayed gentle even when people touched it. It did not show any aggression whatsoever. Even when Miss petted it, it only trembled a little and made no move to attack!”

“Hmm, is that so? Then, Pin, I shall ask you the most important question.”

Count Rufus Ludendion, radiating a stern air, interlaced his fingers and asked,

“When Jessie petted the slime, what expression did she have?”

“She, she was smiling.”

“Smiling? Just smiling?”

“...! She wore a smile as beautiful as the sun itself!”

“I see!”

Bang!

Count Ludendion struck the desk and sprang to his feet.

“I must go to Jessie’s room. I must see my beautiful angel smiling as she pets the slime!”
