◈ Monster Livestream Star ◈

Chapter 8: Elf (3)

──────

Perched on Nellin's hand, the slime entered the elf village, trembling quiver, quiver with delight.

‘Elves! Elves!’

Elves here, elves there.

The second kind of living creature it had ever seen was everywhere.

That alone was amazing, but the elf village was filled with even more amazing things.

For one, there were many elves who looked different from one another.

Elves with pale green hair like the slime's own color, blue hair, blond hair, and more.

Their clothes were similar, yet each was different.

More than anything, they all did different things.

There were elves shopping, elves simply taking walks, and elves who bowed their heads when they saw Nellin.

Some elves looked at the slime with curious eyes.

In any case, all of it stirred the slime's curiosity and filled it with joy.

Meanwhile, the viewers could see the elf village through the slime's vision and the third-person broadcast screen.

[Noblesse Fire]▶So this is a knife-ear village? Nothing special.

[Gothic Luxury Bone]▶This is my first time seeing so many elves.

▶Knife-Ear City. Knife-Ear City.

▶That knife-ear who just passed by looks tasty.

▶Hmm... I'd hit that.

▶Excuse you?

There were some indifferent reactions, but most viewers watched the elf village with interest.

From a monster's perspective, the slime's broadcast was practically an elf kingdom!

Elves from the Dersia Continent were rare on the Demon Continent.

There was a certain fun in seeing the village where those elves lived.

[Jiggly Queen]▶If I were on the Dersia Continent, I would personally wipe them out!

▶Ack lol, she's still holding a grudge lol

▶What can she do when the slime's such a weakling?

The Slime Queen was furious over how Nellin had treated the slime.

▷Elves! Lots! Amazing! Happy!

But the slime itself was simply happy, making the Slime Queen's anger another target for teasing.

▶The one involved is happy. What are you getting mad for? lol

[Jiggly Queen]▶Aaaah! My kin! What could possibly make you so happy?!

The Slime Queen's frustration showed clearly in a chat where thoughts could be written exactly as they came.

“Still trembling? You like it, right?”

As she walked through the village, Nellin felt the slime's happy trembling in her hand and found it strange.

‘What does it like so much?’

The village was no different from usual to her.

Nellin understood the slime's trembling as happiness, but she had no idea what it could be so happy about.

“Lady Nellin!”

“I caught a deer.”

Nellin arrived at the butcher shop, where hunted prey was prepared for the villagers.

“You already drained the blood? You could've just brought it in without draining it.”

“Then it would be heavy, wouldn't it? Draining the blood early also gets rid of the gamey smell.”

“Thank you. Shall I prepare the meat and bring it to you this evening?”

“Yeah, please.”

“Yes! But... what is that slime in your hand?”

The butcher's gaze turned toward the slime.

Nellin briefly explained how she had brought it here.

“Is it really all right to bring it in? The Elder might say something...”

The butcher voiced a concern similar to the guard's.

“Oh, don't worry. Would Granny really get angry over every little thing like this? It's only a slime. And I'm Nellin. Nellin, the Great Hero. Even if Granny gets a little mad, it'll be nothing.”

Nellin was about to take the slime to her home when she spotted the jerky hanging in the butcher shop.

‘It'll eat that too, right?’

Nellin bought some jerky for the slime and returned home.

Perhaps because she was praised as a Great Hero, her house was larger and nicer than the other elves' homes.

Still, it was a house in a forest village rather than a city, so it did not feel especially luxurious.

Several kinds of bows and arrows hung on one wall. On the opposite wall was a large framed painting.

The painting showed five people, including Nellin.

As unfamiliar sights continued unfolding before it, the slime's excitement went beyond mere trembling.

Boing!

It sprang from Nellin's palm and landed on the floor.

Then it circled Nellin, boing, boing, as it bounced.

‘Amazing! Amazing! So much! So many things I don't know!’

“You're that happy just to be in my house? What a strange slime.”

Nellin still could not figure it out, but every one of the slime's actions seemed full of emotion, making it feel cute.

Sitting on the sofa, Nellin patted the spot beside her.

Tap tap.

“Slime, come here.”

When the slime understood her and immediately climbed onto the sofa, Nellin became certain.

“You really do understand what I'm saying, don't you?”

Nellin placed the jerky she had bought at the butcher's in front of the slime.

“Here, eat. I said I'd give you something tasty, right? This is tasty.”

‘Something tasty!’

The slime immediately made a small bounce onto the jerky.

The jerky placed on the sofa slowly entered the slime's body.

Unlike small, simple things like moss or grass, and unlike liquid deer blood, it was thoroughly dried jerky.

Salted, seasoned, and prepared in various ways, it was a food filled with rich nutrients.

In other words...

‘Tasty!’

The jerky gave the slime the strongest feeling of tastiness of anything it had eaten so far.

It was unfamiliar solid food, so it took time to absorb. But for that much longer, the slime could slowly enjoy the nutrients it absorbed.

“You eat jerky well too?”

After absorbing all the jerky, the slime expressed its joy by bouncing on the sofa.

Boing! Boing!

“You like it that much? Well, the jerky from our village is good.”

Nellin took out a piece of jerky from her clothes, bit into it, and handed another piece to the slime.

“You can have more too.”

The slime climbed onto the jerky again and began absorbing it.

While the slime was focused on eating the jerky, the chat became quite lively.

[Jiggly Queen]▶Why do you gobble up everything they give you, my kin?! It could be dangerous!

▶lololol

▶She keeps getting worked up lol

The Slime Queen disliked that it had waltzed right into an elf village, while others teased her for it.

[Just Slam Into It]▶Why eat meat like that?

▶People with no taste, tsk. They don't even know the taste of fresh blood.

There were also those who could not accept that others had different tastes.

▶Hold on! The reason humans and elves eat meat like that is because, unlike monsters like us, they don't have strong stomachs and are vulnerable to even slightly dirty things! So they make meat easier for themselves to absorb through something called “cooking”!

▶Know-it-all, get lost.

▶Who asked?

Compared to when the slime had first started broadcasting, the chat was much livelier now, with people explaining things only to be shut down.

The reason was that the number of viewers watching the slime's broadcast had surged.

The biggest reason was that word had spread that a monster had entered an elf village.

A weak slime could broadcast, and it had even entered an elf village?

More viewers kept coming out of pure curiosity.

▷Tasty! Jerky! Tasty!

▶Malangi[1] is so cute even when eating jerky~!

Without realizing that its viewer count was increasing in real time, the slime wrote its pure feelings in chat and focused once more on the taste of the jerky.

‘Tasty!’

Then it happened.

Knock, knock, knock.

Someone knocked on Nellin's front door.

“Lady Nellin! Are you home?”

“Hm?”

Nellin got up from the sofa and headed for the door.

“Who is it? Oh, you are...”

The visitor was an elf who served as the Elder's personal guard.

The elf gave Nellin an awkward smile.

“The Elder has summoned you. ...She also said to bring the slime you brought with you.”

“Haah, that Granny. All right, let's go.”

With a sigh, Nellin went to the sofa and held out her hand to the slime.

“Slime, climb on again. Let's go somewhere together.”

Boing!

The slime skillfully bounced onto Nellin's hand.

Nellin had given it not only deer blood, but also delicious jerky, so the slime listened to her well.

The moment it climbed onto Nellin's hand, it began trembling.

It had seen new sights because it was riding on Nellin's hand. Perhaps it would see something new again this time. Its trembling was full of that expectation.

Following the Elder's personal guard, Nellin arrived at the Elder's home.

“You have arrived, Lady Nellin.”

In the center of the Elder's home, the Elf Elder sat cross-legged in a meeting room built specifically for holding meetings.

The elf had long golden blond hair and green eyes.

Fitting the long lifespan of elves, the one called the Elder looked like a middle-aged woman.

“Lady Nellin, I heard something unbelievable just now. I heard that Nellin, who defeated the Disaster alongside the heroes fifty years ago, brought a monster into the village. And now, I see that monster sitting on your hand.”

Glare! The Elf Elder glared sharply at the slime, then shouted at Nellin.

“Have you lost your mind?!”

At the Elder's shout, Nellin picked at her ear with her left pinky.

“You're still loud, Granny. Why are you so angry? Even if it's a monster, it's only a slime.”

“Even a slime is a monster! How can the Great Hero, who should be an example to everyone, be so careless?!”

Nellin frowned as though she was sick of hearing the word example and shook her head.

“An example? I became a Great Hero because I can fight well. How many times do I have to tell you not to expect me to be all stuffy too, Granny?”

“Haah, how lamentable.”

“More importantly, Granny, look at this. It understands what people say.”

“What absurd thing are you saying now?”

“I'm serious. That's why I brought it here. I thought it was amazing.”

Nellin lowered her hand slightly and spoke to the slime.

“Slime, get down from my hand.”

The slime immediately reacted, climbing down and landing on the floor.

“Hm?”

Nellin took out more jerky and waved it in front of the slime.

“Slime, do you want more jerky?”

‘I want it!’

As if responding to Nellin's words, the slime bounced in place.

“Good. Then bounce in place exactly three times and stop. I'll give it to you.”

‘Three times!’

When it had been given knowledge about livestreaming, the slime had also learned the concept of numbers. It bounced in place exactly three times, then stopped.

Boing! Boing! Boing!

“What is this...?”

The Elf Elder opened her eyes wide in surprise at the slime, which seemed to understand Nellin's words perfectly.

“Good job.”

Nellin placed the jerky on the floor.

“Now eat.”

The slime immediately climbed onto the jerky and absorbed it.

‘Tasty!’

The slime trembled as it thoroughly enjoyed the taste of the jerky.

[Threadwork Madam]▶Aaaaaah! It's too cute~!!!

▶lololol It's been trained lol

▶It has to do it if it gets food lol

[Jiggly Queen]▶Aaaah! My kiiiin! You don't have to listen to that kind of thing!

▶If it doesn't listen and things go wrong, it could get shot dead by an arrow.

[Just Slam Into It]▶When?! When are you going to use the headbutt I taught you?!

▶Can't you read the room?

▶Is that why your kids reject you?

[Just Slam Into It]▶Shut up!

▶Ah! Elf sex!

“How about it, Granny? It's smart, right? I told you it understands what people say.”

“...Lady Nellin.”

The Elf Elder looked coldly at the slime.

“Kill that slime at once!”

“What?!”

▶?

▶???

▶That awful knife-ear!

“Hurry!”

“Why?!”

At the Elf Elder's sudden, shocking command, Nellin reflexively pulled the slime close as if protecting it.

Even after hearing words that threatened its life...

‘Soft!’

The slime was delighted, surprised by the sensation it felt in real time.
