Chapter 327: Episode 61: Gigantomachia (5)

──────

"Wow, it's really been a while since I was on Earth."

Jang Hayoung leaped through the portal, brushed back her blond hair, and caught her breath.

Gwanghwamun stretched out before her. It was her hometown, returned to after a long journey.

"Does it feel good to be back in your hometown after so long?"

When Hayoung turned around, the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint was emerging from the portal. The Sky-Splitting Divine Dog slipped out from between her legs, with Kyrios Lordgrime, the Paradoxical White Purity, riding on top of its head.

They were the group of Transcendents who had gone to train in another dimension.

"Well, I'm not quite sure..."

"Could you be Jang Hayoung-ssi?"

Hayoung's words were cut off by an unfamiliar voice.

A man was watching them. Judging by his clothes, he wasn't Korean either.

"That's right."

"Then could that enormous person behind you be the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint?"

"Correct."

When the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint answered, the man exclaimed in admiration.

"Ha, your reputation truly precedes you. I've been waiting. I am an insignificant fellow named Flying Fox."

"A martial artist. What business do you have with us?"

"Young Hero Kim told me to wait for you here."

"Young Hero Kim? That pale-faced brat?"

"If by that pale-faced man you mean Young Hero Kim Dokja, then yes."

Flying Fox continued.

"He told me to pass on this message. 'The Returnee Alliance will soon invade Seoul.'"

"That insolent disciple. So that's why he kept browbeating me to return quickly."

Kyrios frowned.

They knew well what kind of group the Returnee Alliance was. The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint, in particular, had heard about them separately from Kim Dokja and Yu Junghyeok.

"The Returnee Alliance... I heard that in another worldline, I died under their combined attack."

Not every Returnee had chosen the path of coexistence like Flying Fox.

The Returnee Alliance was one of the most prominent groups to choose violence and domination.

"It seems you neglected your training in that worldline, Sky-Splitting Sword Saint."

"The Heavenly Demon and Blood Demon are my opponents. I can't underestimate them."

"No matter who comes, you won't die in this worldline. This Seat is with you."

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint smiled faintly at Kyrios's declaration.

"I don't intend to die either. If I die here, I won't be able to give my adorable disciple a good spanking."

As she spoke, the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint slowly clenched and unclenched her fist.

She didn't know how strong she had been in another worldline. One thing was certain, though. The current Sky-Splitting Sword Saint had crossed into a new realm.

She recalled the battle against Indescribable Distance three years ago. She had never forgotten the fear she felt on the day she faced an Outer God whose Status had seemed boundless, a Calamity that surpassed even the Constellations.

She had protected the First Martial World and earned a Great Fable, then visited Tartarus and awakened the Giant's Fate. Yet even so, it had been an enemy she couldn't face.

The past three years of the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's life had been a long period of training solely to prepare for another battle against that Outer God.

That was when they sensed an unfamiliar presence in the distance.

"Something's coming."

At Kyrios's words, Hayoung and the Sky-Splitting Divine Dog also took their positions. At a time like this, it had to be the Returnee Alliance.

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint quickly gave her orders.

"Kyrios and I will take the Heavenly Demon and Blood Demon. Hayoung and Divine Dog, protect the civilians in the Seoul area as much as possible while..."

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's body was suddenly bathed in brilliant light.

[The Giant's Fate within the Incarnation Namgung Minyeong is manifesting!]

"What?"

[Forced Scenario transfer has begun!]

[You have not been granted the right to refuse due to the Myth's Stigma.]

"Master!"

Hayoung cried out in alarm, but the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's body had already vanished into the rays of light. Even Kyrios, who was always so composed, couldn't continue speaking, his eyes shaken.

Dark clouds began gathering across the sky.

Kyrios's expression hardened.

"They're really here this time."

The army of the Returnee Alliance was advancing toward Seoul. The Returnees' march created a tremendous spectacle of Status.

Flying Fox nervously edged backward and muttered, "This doesn't seem safe."

* * *

"Yu Junghyeok, wait!"

"There's no time. Kim Dokja, don't tell me you didn't notice?"

Junghyeok turned around, his face twisted in anger.

"The fifth giant is clearly the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint."

"I know."

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint in the original story wasn't made into a Sacrifice for <Gigantomachia>. Originally, she never visited Tartarus to meet her kin or awakened the Giant's Fate.

「It was because of me.」

I had twisted the plot, so I thought something like this might happen eventually.

"Even if she's your master, it could be dangerous if we don't go help her right away. Didn't you hear that <Gigantomachia> has begun?"

I shook my head as I looked at Junghyeok's urgent face.

"She isn't in danger. If anything, she'll be safe for a while. The danger isn't with the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint. It's somewhere else."

"What nonsense is that? If Master was designated as a Scenario giant..."

Junghyeok stopped speaking as if he had realized something. He understood it too.

The giant-hunting event in <Gigantomachia> was set to occur last.

Until the hunting event began, the giant would receive absolute protection from the Scenario. If the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint had truly been brought into <Gigantomachia>, she would be safe for now.

The real problem was Earth, where the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint had vanished.

"The Returnee War has probably begun by now."

Just because we had passed the forty-fifth Scenario didn't mean everyone on Earth had done the same. The forty-fifth Scenario was still in progress there, and by now, the Returnee Alliance's march across dimensions would have begun.

Originally, the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint and the other Transcendents were supposed to deal with the Returnee Alliance.

"Seoul is in danger," Junghyeok said, almost groaning.

Of course, even without the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint, Earth's forces were formidable.

There were Hayoung, the Sky-Splitting Divine Dog, and Master Kyrios. There were also a few Returnees, including Flying Fox, along with my mother and the Wanderers' forces. Pildu Gong and Han Myeongoh, who were said to be in North Korea, would also help.

Still, only the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint or Kyrios could face the Heavenly Demon and Blood Demon, who were Transcendents.

After thinking for a moment, Junghyeok said, "I'll go to Earth. You participate in <Gigantomachia>."

"Will you be okay?"

"There's no other way right now."

I tossed him the item I was holding.

"Take this."

It was the Giant Armor Briareus had just given me as a token of our oath. It would become one of Junghyeok's main defensive items in the middle and later Scenarios.

Junghyeok silently caught the Giant Armor and, with Persephone's help, immediately escaped Tartarus.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

The giants preparing for war continued stomping their feet.

[The Hidden Scenario Overturning Myth has begun.]

[The possibility of a new fable is sprouting!]

Once that ritual ended, the real <Gigantomachia> would begin.

I watched the giants' reactions, then called Persephone.

"Your Majesty, I think I should get going too."

[You cannot leave.]

"What? But you let Junghyeok go."

[He is not a prisoner. But you...]

I looked at the message floating in the air.

[You are currently imprisoned for criminal acts committed in the Jurisdiction Zone.]

[Remaining confinement time: 4 hours]

[Rules are rules.]

I frowned.

The giants' cries shook the ground.

I had no idea what the time ratio was in the underworld. I couldn't just obediently wait here for four hours.

* * *

"Um, did we come here to have fun?"

Lee Jihye looked around the island with a blank expression.

[Welcome to the theme park, Gigantomachia!]

[The Olympus Twelve Labors Experience is currently in progress!]

Crowds of Incarnations and Constellations bustled toward various places.

<Great Boar Capture Experience>

<Nemean Lion Hunting Experience>

...

Shin Yuseong and Lee Gilyeong, wearing rabbit-ear headbands, ran around without hiding their excitement.

"I've never been somewhere like this before."

"That really looks like the clothes Heracles wore!"

The group had entered <Gigantomachia>, the sixtieth Scenario, eight hours ago. During those eight hours, all they had done was watch boring Olympus videos, see shabby Tier 4 beast species passed off as mythical boars, and watch a tiny Hydra, under five meters tall, howl inside a cage.

"This is just an amusement park..."

In the distance, Lee Hyeongseong was participating in the <Golden Apple Farm> event and returning with a huge pile of apples. The children were too caught up in playing, and even the soldier they had trusted was like that.

"This can't possibly be what the sixtieth Scenario is really like. We need to stay alert," Lee Seolhwa said.

A star-shaped headband she had bought as a souvenir glittered on her head. Jihye looked fed up as she urged Han Suyeong.

"Nobody's in their right mind. Suyeong unni, say something to them!"

Han Suyeong was sitting leisurely on a bench, sucking on candy.

Even as the group wandered around the theme park without a care, Suyeong was carefully observing the Scenario's progress.

[The Incarnations and Constellations participating in the next Twelve Labors Event...]

What Suyeong was paying the closest attention to was a Constellation making a declaration in the center of the theme park. He was a man wearing ancient Greek armor and accessories, someone who looked like an event assistant at first glance.

‘They've put thick guards over his ankles.’

There was only one Olympian hero who needed to be careful of his ankles.

Sorrow of Troy, Achilles.

Perhaps he found the event boring, because he kept yawning.

After some time passed...

[Well, it seems you've all had a good look around, so shall we get to the main point?]

For the first time, his lazy tone changed.

[Gigantomachia is a Scenario that our nebula Olympus has hosted since ancient times. It allows you to directly experience the greatest myth of the Star Stream and feel it for yourselves.]

The noisy Incarnations all focused their attention on him.

[As you know, this Scenario was created for Incarnations and Constellations who will soon enter the middle and later Scenarios. Through this Scenario, you may earn the chance to be chosen by the twelve divine Seats of Olympus.]

Suyeong gave a bitter smile as she watched the ancient hero speak like a dokkaebi.

‘Is he willing to play dokkaebi for the nebula's reputation?’

Of course, acting like that didn't mean he could truly exercise a dokkaebi's authority, but there was no better performance for stirring up the participants.

[And that's not all. Through the hunting event for the ancient giants, you can also gain a share of a powerful Great Fable!]

At the mention of a share in a Great Fable, a few Incarnations and Constellations cheered.

Achilles smiled kindly and continued.

[Then shall we begin the real game?]

The central hall of the theme park began to open. The cover of an enormous sealed sphere lifted, and five-colored light poured through the air.

[Allow me to introduce the first giant!]

When the rays of light vanished, a giant from legend appeared.

For some reason, though, the giant looked smaller than expected. No matter how they looked at it, the giant was only around three meters tall.

[Haha, I see some of you are disappointed. The first giant is mixed-blood, so it is on the smaller side. But it certainly possesses a giant's fable, so please begin the hunt!]

Suyeong and the others were also looking at the giant.

Jihye stood there dumbfounded with her mouth open. After rubbing her eyes several times, she cried out, "That person...!"

Lee Hyeongseong, Lee Gilyeong, and Shin Yuseong. Everyone there knew who that giant was.

That was because the giant had once been a Companion who fought beside them.

The bronze-skinned member of the giant race slowly opened her eyes and faced the group.

[Main Scenario #60 - Gigantomachia has begun!]

[The first quarry has been decided.]

[Hunt the giant Sky-Splitting Sword Saint Namgung Minyeong.]

Their first quarry was the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint, Junghyeok's master.

[Why is everyone standing still? Don't tell me you're scared?]

When nobody moved even after the Scenario began, Achilles floated lightly into the air.

[It seems Gigantomachia is new to all of you, so you're frightened... It's nothing special. I'll demonstrate first.]

A constellation artifact, the Ash Spear, was in Achilles's hand. It was a legendary spear that had pierced and killed countless warriors during the Trojan War.

The Incarnations broke into cheers.

Achilles was Olympus's great hero. No giant could possibly stand against him.

Suyeong unwound the bandages around her arms. The Scenario was important, but that didn't mean they could lose the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint here.

[Watch closely. This is how you do it...!]

Achilles shot forward like an arrow and swung his spear at the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's heart. Suyeong rushed out, then stopped.

Grab.

The charging Achilles froze in midair. The Incarnations' cheers stopped.

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's enormous hand was gripping Achilles's head.

[Whether in the Martial World or Olympus, giants are always treated the same.]

Achilles struggled as he dangled in the air like an insect. The more he struggled, the more the veins stood out on the Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's hand.

Creak.

[Do you wish to hunt a giant?]

The Sky-Splitting Sword Saint's cold gaze swept across the Incarnations and Constellations.

Crunch.

Achilles's head was crushed.

[Then go ahead and try.]
