◈ The Dungeon Gallery's Terrifying Newbie ◈
Chapter 66: Dungeon Expansion
──────
humanluvr: Seriously, that arboralis asshole talks way too much.
humanluvr: If arboralis came to my dungeon, arboralis would be dead.
humanluvr: How dare they try to seduce our newbie?
└ dip: I have no clue how you decided they were trying to seduce newbie.
└ dip: But judging by the way they're talking, it seems like they know newbie can go outside,
└ dip: but they don't know newbie helped carwash yet.
└ golemking: You sound just like dip,
└ golemking: who talked a big game without knowing there were still two living intruders in the Core Room, hehe.
└ dip: Why are you picking a fight first?
└ golemking: Am I not allowed to pick a fight? LOL?
└ dip: Where do you live?
└ golemking: Replicant Automata, yeah. Come in if you've got a problem.
└ golemking: I'll show you my ultrafast golem punch that can hit 500 times a minute in theory.
└ dip: I'll summon a Death Knight right away, grab your legs,
└ dip: hit you with a single-leg tackle, pound you into the ground, and turn you into a pile of scrap metal.
cowhead: arboralis VS arboralis.
└ cowhead: Fuck, watching the fight footage makes my heart swell with pride.
└ skullbones: The insanely detailed battle of wits is a work of art LOL.
└ magichero: I got the combat data, sweet...

The response to this live thread was great too.
I'd recorded plenty of footage just in case, and it was a good thing I had.
Blessed Ones could enter other Veterans' dungeons too.
The footage of this Doppelganger battle seemed to have helped quite a lot.
"Feels good."
The head mod had told me that if I became a conduit who helped other dungeons,
a hopeful future might await Dungeon Masters too.
I'd said it before.
The Dungeon Gallery was my entire social life.
They were as precious to me as the Magic Stone lodged in the Core Room, the heart of the dungeon.
So,
I set a new goal.
Let's make a terrifying dungeon that Blessed Ones wouldn't even dare consider entering.
Then I'll help my friends.
I currently had 300,000 Points.
After passing level 100 this time, I could buy 5-star Pieces.
It was like being able to directly buy characters in a gacha game that normally required spending real money. They were all absurdly strong.
To begin with, every trap came with this tag.
【Escape Scroll Nullification】
Until now, I'd robbed intruders of their belongings using the Disciplinary Committee Leader, the Merchant, and so on.
I didn't need to do that anymore.
If they used an Escape Scroll in an area where a 5-star trap had activated,
the Escape Scroll would simply become a useless torn piece of paper.
Of course, it would still work normally if they used it in an Elevator.
Still, plenty of people would die before they figured that out.
It was busted beyond belief.
The Veterans said the performance jumped up from 5 stars onward.
Anomalies had been busted from the start, so I hadn't expected much.
Yet they showed me firsthand that even busted things had another level above them.
Maybe that was why.
From 5 stars onward, traps and Minions seemed to come as a set.
Areas with 5-star traps had a School-like gimmick that only designated Minions could use, but even taking that into account, it seemed pretty good.
Not all Anomaly Minions were good, after all.
Even in AOS games, there were trash-tier and god-tier characters, and the same went for items.
Anyway.
The new traps and Minions I was adding were these.
【Phantom Mansion Generator (★5)】
【Price: 175,000P】
【Tags: Anomaly, Immortal, One-Time, Escape Scroll Nullification】
【……】
【……】
【Mirror That Should Not Exist (★5)】
【Price: 70,000P】
【Tags: Anomaly, Immortal, Activation, Cannot Be Developed】

They weren't bad.
They were a little expensive, but their performance made the price acceptable.
Personally, I hoped they would become Dreamland's trump card after the School.
I decided to place them in Area 3.
It was to deal with Blessed Ones who had traits that nullified traps.
Huh?
What about the Goblin Cave and the Merchant, then?
Obviously, I wasn't planning to throw them away. I was going to move them to Area 4.
I grabbed a hard hat and a shovel.
They didn't really mean much, but I felt more like I was doing construction whenever I had them.
.
.
.
.
.
I'd already mastered the Dungeon Expansion Feature.
After learning from Nabu, the best instructor around, I could proudly say I was fully used to it now.
Since I was rather short on Points,
I planned to split Area 3 in half and make Area 4 first.
Naturally, modifying the terrain cost Points too, but it wasn't expensive, only around 5,000P.
The Goblin Cave would become weaker in that case,
but I thought adding the mansion would make up for it.
Once I earned more Points later, I could expand it again.
I split the area in an instant.
I brought the Merchant to Area 4 and personally laid the Merchant down.
"Ugh."
The reason I didn't use Malrang here was simple.
After facing the Blessed One this time, Malrang had also
eaten the trash she left behind and ranked up.
Considering Malrang had barely eaten anything before ranking up,
maybe growth wasn't really about eating.
Maybe the Dungeon Master's level had a much greater effect.
Or maybe Malrang had eaten too much during the Dwarf incident, leaving the experience bar stuck just short of the next threshold.
【Anomaly Slime (★5)】
【Tags: Anomaly, Immortal, Harmless, Flight, Size Reduction, ???】
【It quickly cleans up trash inside the dungeon. It follows the Dungeon Master's orders.】
Anyway, whenever an Anomaly touched Malrang, that part would melt into mush and be absorbed by Malrang.
I assumed it was because of the ??? tag.
If I used that, I could remove useless Anomalies later and free up slots.
Maybe Malrang would awaken someday.
Still, I didn't have any useless Minions right now, and this wasn't the time to experiment.
Anyway.
After moving the Merchant, I brought over the Strange Goblin Cave Generator and placed it again.
Then, in the empty Area 3,
I placed the Phantom Mansion Generator and the Mirror That Should Not Exist.
All that was left was to install one more Elevator, and construction would be finished.
I used up my Points neatly.
Now all that remained was to wait for intruders.
A Blessed One.
Would one come in again?
Honestly, I thought the only thing left for me to do in Fire Forge was post on the Gallery, but damn.
I hadn't become a superstar among the Blessed Ones, had I?
Well, they could come in as often as they liked.
Once they entered, they would never escape this newbie's iron mace.

Two months went by, yet no Blessed Ones entered.
It seemed the Veterans' predictions had been right.
orange★: Looks like they were horrified by Dreamland's viciousness and decided not to bother with it after all.
└ no_minions_4_me: It's a dungeon where they can't get any rewards besides the Magic Stone LOL.
└ no_minions_4_me: Maybe it'll be fine if you don't draw attention and lie low for a while??
Had I worried for nothing?
The time I'd spent worrying and staying tense felt kind of stupid.
humanluvr: Newbieee!
└ newbie: Why are you calling me?
└ humanluvr: What did you install this time??
└ humanluvr: You haven't said anything about the dungeon since the Blessed One came in ㅠㅠ
└ cowhead: For real. You asked for recommendations, fuck.
└ cowhead: So why haven't you mentioned Dreamland at all since then?
└ cowhead: Stand up straight, newbie.
└ skullbones: This is kind of annoying, yeah.
└ skullbones: What's with making us wait in anticipation??
Ah.
Come to think of it, I hadn't said anything about the Dungeon Expansion.
└ newbie: Sorry. When I get absorbed in something, my mind sometimes flies off to Andromeda...
└ newbie: I bought these, hehe.
└ op_ghost: You've gotten a little experience under your belt, so now you don't ask the Gallery anymore...
└ op_ghost: That hurts my feelings.
└ newbie: No, the 5-star Pieces made my dopamine explode ㅠㅠ
└ newbie: I'll ask from now on...
└ magichero: B-b-b-but looking at the trap and Minion descriptions...
└ magichero: I can see why your dopamine exploded... LOL...
└ worldiscold: Escape Scroll Nullification, what the fuck LOLLLLLLL.
└ no_minions_4_me: You brought back something terrifying again...
└ whaleyeah: RIP in advance to the next intruder who comes in.
└ squintychar: Why are 5-star Pieces so good??
└ squintychar: Even beyond the traps and Minions you bought, there are so many things that catch my eye LOL.
└ sealedconq: This is true horror, yeah.
└ sealedphilo: I'm looking forward to the next live thread...
Around the time I was dropping hints about an unfamiliar concept called TRPG to the bored Veterans,
an intruder entered for the first time in a long while.
【The Wave is beginning.】
【Intruders are entering.】
【A total of 15 intruders have been confirmed.】
【15 humans.】
Naturally, I thought they were Blessed Ones.
That's what I thought, but...
They weren't Dwarves. Why were humans suddenly here?
This was so out of nowhere that I was a little taken aback.
"Still... Look at how those fucking humans all think the same way."
What was this, some kind of Yuven Unit Two?
This time, they brought two combat personnel and led the rest in as slaves.
"Every time I see it, it makes me sick."
As someone who had been human before becoming a Dungeon Master, it was a truly shameful sight.
What did these bastards think human lives were worth?
Those people were making it obvious they didn't want to go in.
Yet the soldiers planned to use them as sacrifices just to uncover Anomalies.
newbie: It's time to show them the power of a level 105 Dungeon Master, yeah.
└ newbie: But who the hell are those guys??
└ humanluvr: The time has come for Love Holmes, resident human expert, to step up!
└ humanluvr: Those soldiers are...
└ antqueen: Why are you suddenly making such a fool of yourself??
└ antqueen: They're just North Kingdom soldiers, lol.
└ humanluvr: Do you want to die for real ^^?
└ humanluvr: Newbie, ignore that disgusting ant and listen only to me ㅠㅠ
└ humanluvr: Anyway, to explain!
└ humanluvr: They're North Kingdom soldiers, but more specifically, soldiers from Wolfhauffen County!
└ humanluvr: That wolf insignia on their shields is Wolfhauffen's symbol.
└ humanluvr: Thankfully, there aren't any knights... and I don't see anyone who looks particularly high-ranking either!
└ humanluvr: newbie should be able to deal with them easily!
└ newbie: Thanks!
└ humanluvr: If you're grateful, we need to meet and kiss. Seriously.
└ newbie: Hehe... But if they came in this prepared, could the lord have caught wind of Dreamland again?
└ humanluvr: Who knows?
└ humanluvr: It's hard to tell for now...
└ humanluvr: They probably know about the Dwarves too...
└ humanluvr: Personally, I have a lot of questions about why they came in.
Well, whatever.
It's been a while, so maybe I'll warm up a little.
.
.
.
.
.
I dusted off my hands.
The battle had ended in my victory.
Leveling up was truly the best.
I played with the soldiers as if they were little children.
About two ordinary soldiers felt like...
Goblins to me now.
Still.
I had won the fight easily, but my expression wasn't very bright.
The Passage was full of corpses.
No intruders had survived.
Even the slaves I had wanted to save were all dead.
I hadn't killed them.
There was no reason to, and I had wanted to ask them something in the first place.
Why had humans from the North Kingdom deliberately entered Dreamland, which was located in Fire Forge?
It wasn't as if I could ask a corpse that question.
magichero: It was a Magic Bomb...
A Magic Bomb.
The moment the soldiers realized they had lost,
they pulled out the pinnacle of Magitech, prepared to take me down with them.
The bomb exploded with a bang.
Everyone, including me, was caught in the blast.
For the soldiers, it had been a desperate suicide attack.
Thankfully, I wasn't critically injured like they were.
I still had wounds here and there, but they were regenerating quickly.
I got lucky.
It was fortunate that the soldier had made a mistake.
Otherwise, I might've pointlessly lost the Drake Heart I got from secha.
Even now, I get chills thinking about it.
It happened when I thought everything was over and let my guard down.
Next time, I needed to stay focused until the very end.
Still.
I'd heard something I couldn't ignore from the soldiers.
"They definitely called me a disaster..."
They were different from the intruders who had only come after the Magic Stone until now.
The moment they saw me, they burned with boundless hostility.
- So you're the Dungeon Master who'll become the disaster of the North Kingdom.
- Die, die! Cough up the Magic Stone and die right here!
What the hell was going on?
