◈ The Weakest Knight Became a Swordmaster, But Only in Dungeons ◈
Chapter 59: Divine Revelation (1)
──────
Pale blue hair spilled across the pillow.
Lara Twisloff lay in bed with her eyes closed, trying to sleep.
Before long, a familiar voice filled her head.
─ “Lara, are you okay!?”
Lara squeezed her eyes shut.
“Ah... This is driving me crazy.”
She could not erase the feeling of Ron’s weight as he had landed on top of her, nor the sight of him looking down at her with concern.
Whenever she lay on her back, Ron’s face kept flashing before her eyes. In the end, Lara let out a groan and turned onto her side.
‘Stop thinking about it. Anyone but him...’
Soon, Lara covered her face with both hands and let out a long sigh.
It was a cursed night.

“How is the White Wing Knight Order commander doing?”
The second-semester Sparring Test was approaching.
In the principal’s office, Principal Olivia, who was seated and working through paperwork, asked Secretary Reynald.
“She is currently staying in the city of Oldern. It is difficult to learn anything beyond that.”
Following her would make discovery inevitable.
“Hmm...”
Was she tracking the Swordmaster?
Principal Olivia had been closely monitoring the White Wing commander’s movements.
While staying at the knight academy, the White Wing commander taught Ron Hazely in the instruction room. In her free time, she would conduct large-scale instructional sparring outside the academy with Elise.
At other times, she seemed to be tracking the Swordmaster’s movements with White Wing knights in tow.
She had visited the Orc Forest where Elise had been abducted through a Gate, Tilloden Rocky Mountain, and the city of Oldern.
Was she trying to inspect the sites herself? The White Wing commander could sharply perceive things unseen.
“What about the Holy Nation? Have they said anything else?”
“They sent word that they would arrive without issue on the day of the first-year Sparring Test. They also repeatedly asked us to ensure that news of the Saint’s visit does not get out.”
The sacred woman of the Solaus Church, the Empire’s state religion. A dignitary of the Holy Nation. An Oracle.
The Saint would be observing this first-year Sparring Test.
However, her visit to Griffin Knight Academy was a secret from the public.
The stated reason for her observation was simply to keep an eye out for promising candidates to become Holy Knights of the Church.
“I do not understand the purpose.”
There was no issue under academy regulations, but if that were the reason, it would have made more sense to observe during the first semester.
The Solaus Church trained its own knights directly in the first place.
As a result, it was quite rare for the Church to observe the knight academy’s Sparring Tests. More than anything, the Saint personally getting involved was highly unusual.
“Haah.”
The situation was already tense enough with the White Wing commander staying at the knight academy.
Principal Olivia had no choice but to remain on high alert.

“Saint, we will soon arrive at Griffin Knight Academy.”
A magic carriage raced along the trade road leading to Griffin Knight Academy.
Two devotees in black-and-gold sacred robes rode inside, along with Holy Knights in uniform.
One of the devotees bowed their head and spoke to the woman seated in the place of honor.
Her pale golden hair was neatly braided and draped down her back. Her skin was white, and cross-shaped light flowed through her eyes.
She wore a magic disguise outfit that looked like ordinary sacred robes.
She was the Saint of the Solaus Church.
A screen had been set up around her to prevent anyone from coming into contact with her.
“I’ll meet him soon, the one who will become my knight...!”
The Saint murmured in an excited voice.

Chapter 2, Act 5 of <For Elise>, “Second-Semester Sparring Test,” covered the first-year second-semester Sparring Test.
It was the episode where the original Elise recovered mentally during Chapter 2, Act 4, the Founding Anniversary Festival arc, then fully recovered physically by the beginning of Act 5 and showed that she was doing well.
Today was the day of that Sparring Test.
“From this moment, the first-year second-semester Sparring Test will begin!”
In the vast sparring arena, before the orderly first-year cadets standing at ease, Logan, the black-haired instructor with rough stubble, shouted loudly. His voice was magically amplified.
I discreetly turned my gaze toward the observers’ seats. They were private rooms set above the sparring arena, visible through glass windows.
The period for personal-squire offers had ended, so there were not many outside observers. Still, one particularly prominent woman was there.
Fox ears stretched up from her head. Her eyes were gently closed.
The woman, white as snow, was my master, Lucia Silverbane.
Perhaps she had noticed my gaze with aura sense. She smiled warmly and slowly waved her hand.
‘Can she read thoughts and emotions even from this distance?’
Lucia could read other people’s thoughts and emotions.
That was why she had told me at the Campbell Branch that it would be a problem if I looked at her with that sort of gaze. She had seemed kind enough to understand, though.
Still, this distance should be fine. There was no way that ability could reach this far.
I had grounds for believing that. The last time I had gone to greet Lucia, I had unconsciously thought she was beautiful, yet she had seemed to know nothing.
Right. When else would I get the chance to admire Lucia’s face to my heart’s content and let myself feel honestly?
I immediately went into admiration mode.
‘She really is unbelievably beautiful...’
Wow. I was newly struck by my master’s beauty. What a gorgeous fox beastkin woman.
It felt like seeing a favorite celebrity. Every time I received Master’s instruction, I had tried so hard not to think about it.
Perhaps that was why this moment felt especially meaningful.
“...”
Lucia suddenly stopped waving, parted her lips slightly, then smiled faintly.
Did her hand just hesitate?
No way. Her mind-reading ability could not possibly reach this far.
“We will begin the sparring with Group One! As soon as your match ends, winners will move to the winners’ area, and losers will move to the losers’ area! Everyone, take your positions!”
“Take your positions!”
The cadets moved to the waiting seats.
‘Time to focus.’
Memories of all the grueling training I had endured with Master’s instruction and Lara’s help flashed through my mind.
It had all been for victory in this Sparring Test. I would definitely achieve an achievement and gain experience points.
Just as I renewed that resolve...
“Hm?”
An unexpected sight entered the edge of my vision.
The second observers’ seats.
People wearing the black-and-gold attire of the Solaus Church were seated there.
That area was a private room as well. The Church members were visible through its glass windows.
‘Why is the Church here...?’
The Solaus Church did observe the Sparring Test in the original story, but that was during the second-year arc, after the Saint enrolled at the knight academy.
Why had they come to observe already?
‘Wait. Is that the Saint?’
I saw a woman in ordinary devotee’s clothing with her face hidden beneath a hood.
Navy-blue hair showed beneath it.
That was exactly how the Saint looked in the original whenever she used a magic disguise outfit to appear as an ordinary devotee.
Her natural hair was pale gold, the same as her older brother Damian.
‘Why is the Saint here...?’
Until now, whenever the scenario had twisted off course, I had quickly been able to infer the reason. This time, I could not even guess.
My thoughts grew confused.
* * *
In the first observers’ seats, Lucia, commander of the White Wing Knight Order, kept her attention on the sparring arena with her eyes closed.
Two White Wing knights and Secretary Karen were seated around her.
Before long, devotees and Holy Knights of the Solaus Church entered the second observers’ seats.
For some reason, they cast a soundproofing spell around themselves.
The White Wing knights and Secretary Karen looked puzzled.
“A person of high standing has arrived.”
“Pardon...?”
Lucia spoke in a calm voice, and Secretary Karen beside her looked confused.
Meanwhile, in the second observers’ seats...
“Wow, it’s Commander Lucia...! She really came!”
The Saint, disguised as an ordinary devotee and hidden beneath her hood, became visibly excited as she looked toward the first observers’ seats.
Beneath the hood, her eyes, lit with cross-shaped light, sparkled.
“Esili!”
“Yes.”
Devotee Esili bowed her head to the Saint.
Smiling like a child, the Saint pointed toward the first-year cadets.
“Which of them are the squires Commander Lucia chose!?”
“One is the magenta-haired woman, Elise Lorendia, the fairy’s contractor. The other is that light-brown-haired man, Ron Hazely.”
“Ron Hazely...?”
The fairy’s contractor was so famous that she needed no further explanation.
Even the Saint’s own older brother, Damian Dunbringer, had talked about her so much that she was sick of hearing the name.
Elise Lorendia was the bewitching woman who had stolen even Damian’s heart, though he had paid no mind to the courtship of countless women.
That was why the Saint could not help but know Elise Lorendia’s name.
However, Ron Hazely was unfamiliar to her.
“According to the information, there is nothing particularly special about him. I understand his grades are in the middle to lower ranks.”
Devotee Esili spoke.
“However, Commander Lucia is said to have shown greater eagerness to take him on as a squire than even the fairy’s contractor. This is fairly well-known information.”
“Oh, so that man has some extraordinary quality that cannot be seen from the outside?”
“That is likely the case.”
The Saint stared intently at Ron, the light-brown-haired man seated among the first-year cadets.
“There will be plenty to watch! Hehe, this will be fun! Still... My purpose is only to find the person revealed by the divine revelation!”
Soon, the first-year cadets’ sparring matches began.
“Mm, no.”
“Not that one.”
“No.”
Whenever a cadet ignited aura, the Saint murmured the same thing in a small voice.
Then came the thirteenth match.
“Damian Dunbringer, Ron Hazely! Step forward!”
At Instructor Logan’s shout, the Saint blinked her round eyes.
“Huh? Esili! Didn’t you say that man was in the middle to lower ranks?”
“That is correct, but this is strange. Lord Damian should be in the upper ranks, so why is his sparring opponent...?”
The Saint’s older brother, Damian Dunbringer, was a prodigy considered one of the Solaus Church’s rising talents.
He had only enrolled at Griffin Knight Academy while giving various reasons: he wanted to broaden his horizons, build connections and expand the Church’s influence, and become comrades with the fairy’s contractor he had happened to meet.
He already possessed enough skill to distinguish himself in real combat.
Even at the Empire’s finest knight academy, he ranked among the top students.
The Saint looked at Ron, who stood in the sparring arena.
“Commander Lucia’s squire...”
She did not know how he had become Damian’s sparring opponent or what extraordinary qualities he possessed, but she would soon find out.
The Saint decided to quietly watch the match.
“Begin!!”
Instructor Logan shouted.
As Ron and Damian ignited aura around their respective swords, the Saint’s eyes opened wide and her jaw fell.
“Ah... I found him.”
The person the divine revelation had pointed to.
