◈ Escaping the Mystery Hotel ◈
Chapter 1: Prologue - Strange Dream
──────
I had a strange dream.
It was a February evening, with a cool breeze in the air.
I was a high-school senior who had finished the college entrance exam, with a brief break before university started!
Wasn't this a rare golden period in life?
I went backpacking alone.
My exam results hadn't been bad, so my parents gave me a generous travel budget.
Thanks to that, I was able to travel quite comfortably. Near the end of the trip, I stayed at a hotel on Jeju Island.
After sightseeing all day, I fell asleep in my hotel bed, exhausted in both body and mind. The moment I drifted off, something strange happened.
When I came to, I found myself in a space filled with pale fog.
Looking around, I saw several figures standing nearby, like dark shadows.
I couldn't understand the situation, yet somehow, I felt I had to move forward.
Less than a minute later, I found a table.
Dozens of strange pieces were laid out on it.
[Choose your destiny.]
Destiny?
From one of these little pieces?
Still, I felt like I had to pick something up. As I looked over the pieces, they began disappearing one after another.
Just as I panicked, afraid the pieces would disappear before I could choose one, an owl figurine caught my eye. I immediately picked it up.
At that moment, a notice appeared before me.
/Welcome, guests gathered at Hotel Pioneer!
Since opening in 1847, Pioneer has boasted a long history and earned the praise of many guests through countless mysteries and endless treasures.
Of course, every treasure comes with a corresponding danger.
We sincerely hope that you, our valued guests, will achieve the results you seek at Pioneer!
Now, set out on your adventure./
What was that supposed to mean?
There were all kinds of strange things about it.
For one thing, the hotel I was staying at didn't have some grand name like Pioneer.
The opening date was even more absurd.
Even 1947 would have been hard to believe, but 1847?
What kind of hotel existed during the Joseon Dynasty?
Mysteries, treasures, danger, adventure?
I couldn't understand a single word. Just as confusion set in, a wave of vertigo hit me, and I collapsed.
Ah, so this was what people called a lucid dream!
Was I losing consciousness again?
Thinking what a bizarre dream this was, I sank into the darkness.
