◈ I Made a Tier List the Transcendents Are Obsessed With ◈

Chapter 11: Discussion (1)

──────

“Fuck, who the hell is it?”

Thump! Thump! Thump!

The Fifth Dimension, the territory of The Void.

An innate domain that no one could encroach upon except those belonging solely to it.

On the planet at its center, a colossal black snake was repeatedly smashing its head against the ground.

“Keep that up and your already bad brain will get worse. Knock it off.”

“...Don’t make me any sicker than I already am. This is partly your fault too, you crazy bitch.”

“Ha! Don’t dump the blame on me. Take it up with Oz.”

Nirvakh had no answer to that.

This was practically a disaster they had brought upon themself.

There was a reason they were out in their true body rather than an avatar.

Their head was spinning so badly that they could no longer maintain an avatar.

“Still, you went up a rank this time. Isn’t that what you wanted?”

“I would’ve ranked the same even if I hadn’t gotten carried away...”

Oz’s claim that they were sticking to their own stubborn principles seemed to be true.

Unlike the earlier rankings that had sorted the hierarchy within the Void, this time there had been a sudden reshuffle.

[Battle-to-the-End Rankings, Prepared for Spiritual Annihilation, Fifth Dimension Edition No Bias]

TOP 10 [King of Pests] Dorumak

TOP 9 [One Who Knocks] Epin

TOP 8 [Inverted Womb] Nahalrm

TOP 7 [Moth That Tears at Star Bones] Agravakh

TOP 6 [Sky-Chewing Maw] Belkarnon

TOP 5 [Gravekeeper] Murgar

TOP 4 [Weeping Hand] Siel

TOP 3 [Black Goat] Heukjong

TOP 2 [Archivist of Nothingness] Nirvakh

TOP 1 [Priest] Masar el Kadum

And just as initially predicted, Nirvakh was listed in second place.

The rankings were based on combat when each participant used every means at their disposal.

But unlike before, this one had drawn an unprecedented amount of backlash.

[ I get number one, but why did Siel get pushed down to fourth? ]

[ As of today, I withdraw my support for Oz... I’m seriously withdrawing it, fuck ]

[ Honestly, even tenth for the King of Pests is a fucking overrating lol ]

[ Isn’t this special treatment for the Void lot? ]

It was vastly different from the ranking list Oz had previously made and substantiated.

The Transcendent Gallery had erupted into debate.

But Nirvakh, known there as No Existence, who had reacted more sensitively to the rankings than anyone else, no longer cared about rankings like that.

...

...

...

TOP 2

It has existed since before the beginning, so it is practically from the Old Generation.

It possesses enough strength to stand alone without any subordinates.

It can simply swallow High Gods and beings below them and possess every ability held by those it has devoured.

No other Transcendent possesses a wider variety of combat methods.

What troubled Nirvakh more was the explanation written beneath the ranking.

The first part, of course, was widely known.

Nirvakh’s story was famous even outside the Void, information one could write down merely by consulting the Chronicle of All Gods.

But the limits were clear.

Because of their origin, Nirvakh cannot defeat the Priest in first place.

Furthermore, Nirvakh cannot achieve a complete victory against beings connected to the Underworld, such as the Weeping Hand or the Gravekeeper.

They are ranked above them because neither can completely annihilate Nirvakh, while Nirvakh can perish together with them if prepared to annihilate their own existence.

As an aside, maybe because they’re a snake bastard in the first place, their mouth is absurdly loose.

They seem to love spreading other people’s business everywhere.

I’m considering spilling all this bastard’s secrets too.

The lines that followed naturally left Nirvakh aghast.

The gallery users merely laughed them off or questioned a few details.

A few lines were not enough to grasp the full story.

But Nirvakh could never laugh this part off.

“...How the hell do they know that? There’s no one left who knows.”

“Either Oz has connections to the old fogeys, or they heard about it somehow. Though it makes no sense that they heard it.”

“That’s why I can’t even guess! There aren’t many Old Generation beings left, and most of them have had their very existence forgotten entirely!”

“I didn’t know Oz was that old either. They’re scarier than I thought... At that point, they’re not just a big sister, they’re the queen of big sisters. How many years have they even lived?”

She let out a nasal hmmm...

...She was Epin, ninth in the rankings and known in the gallery as Beyond the Boundary.

“Come to think of it, you exposed the fact that Oz got that beauty spirit fruit? I’d be embarrassed and mad too, you snake bastard. This one’s on you.”

“Ah, get lost! I know!”

“Yeees, yeees, got iiiit.”

Bleh...

She stuck out her tongue and immediately vanished.

Nirvakh glared after her with literal snake eyes.

She had been scraping at Nirvakh’s nerves since they were in the gallery.

“...Ah, I’m really screwed.”

They felt like crying.

Of course, their true body could not shed tears.

They could only lower their head gloomily and keep flicking their tongue.

Who could have expected Oz to be a Transcendent from the Old Generation, an era when most beings had vanished after merging with the laws?

This was an age when even recalling their records had become forbidden.

Perhaps Nirvakh should be grateful that Oz had not come looking for them directly.

Whether it was a sudden private, one-on-one meeting or the possibility of their secret history spreading through the gallery, either prospect was equally terrifying.

[ Ah, Oz, I’m really not tenth lol ] - ShiningSword

[ Aren’t these Library guys just looking at records and deciding ranks however they want? Aren’t they actually weaklings? ] - ShiningSword

[ Should we have a go? I’m getting pissed lol ] - ShiningSword

“...Crazy bastard.”

Perhaps the one fortunate thing was that Nirvakh had caught on to Oz’s identity now.

Nirvakh shook their head at the foolhardy gallery user.

That one was going to die at this rate.

From a few remarks alone, Oz seemed to know the true names of the gallery users inside and out.

Old Generation beings would already possess creation-level divinity.

With enough karma, merely calling someone’s true name could erase their existence.

And there was no way an ancient god who had lived unnoticed for so long would lack karma.

“Did they really die?”

Seeing that the user never appeared again, Nirvakh could only shudder.

It was an inexplicable terror that could count as only the second such experience in their life...

* * *

“What’s with this person?”

There was one person who still could not accept it, no matter how much we debated.

Usually, in a case like this, there were three options.

Ignore them, stubbornly keep arguing until the end, or prove that the messenger was an idiot.

The second option was impossible.

I was now a four-star mage, plus half a star, so my lifespan had increased considerably.

I could probably live for four or five hundred years without a problem.

But even the youngest of these beings had lived for hundreds of thousands of years.

The average was, of course, in the hundreds of millions.

If we competed over who had more time, I would inevitably lose.

If this person kept insisting, we might really argue for months.

The first option did not appeal to me either.

At the very least, my tier list had to be considered nearly flawless, like it was now.

That was how it would draw attention, and how I could keep farming points like this.

It was not much yet, but as the points piled up, they would become an asset that could never be ignored.

So I chose the third option.

“They’re dead.”

Since I could not identify them just from their nickname, I started going through their posts.

It would be troublesome if they were truly insignificant, but admission to the Transcendent Gallery seemed to be through acquaintance invitations, so...

“...It’s you, you bastard.”

I could identify them well enough.

With a chilling smile, I immediately sent a private message.

Me > [ Hey, Aigeom. ]

Me > [ Did you think I wouldn’t recognize you? ]

[ Pardon? ] - ShiningSword

[ Who is Aigeom...? ] - ShiningSword

They immediately switched to polite speech.

“You’re going to pretend not to know?”

It was laughable.

They were probably wondering how I knew.

Most of the Transcendents in the gallery likely could not identify this person’s true identity either.

But I was different.

Me > [ What generation Hero are you, you bastard? ]

Me > [ I know the Hero from the thirteenth cohort too. Want me to call them in here? ]

[ Certain123 Victory! 325899th cohort Aigeom! No, sir! I’ll conduct myself properly! ] - ShiningSword

Me > [ Is conducting yourself properly enough? ]

[ Certain123 Victory! 325899th cohort Aigeom, reporting! I’ll do better! ] - ShiningSword

Me > [ How will you do better? ]

[ I’LL LOOK INTO IT AGAIN!!! ] - ShiningSword

Me > [ And what did you find? ]

[ I’LL NEVER ACT UP AGAIN! SORRY!!! ] - ShiningSword

Me > [ Giyeol!!!!!! ]

[ Agh!!!!!! ] - ShiningSword

Me > [ As of this hour, you will voluntarily ban yourself from the gallery for thirty days. Understood? ]

[ Agh!!!!!! ] - ShiningSword

...After that message, they really disappeared.

“Mm-hm.”

For the record, I really did know the Hero from the thirteenth cohort.

Of course, I only knew of them.

They appeared in the original story.

After dealing with the Giyeol Hero, I returned to the gallery.

[ Honestly, shouldn’t Agravakh be excluded from the tier list? ] [32] Upvotes 5 Downvotes 61

“Huh.”

After several rebuttals in the original post, quite a few people seemed convinced.

But a handful of holdouts still resisted.

“...They do have grounds, at least.”

Maybe because this was the Transcendent Gallery, but they were proper counterarguments.

That Giyeol deadweight Hero from earlier had argued mindlessly, like the ordinary people in the Lower Realm Gallery, which was why I had used that method.

But these posts were worth refuting with sound arguments.

└ Oz) Why should Agravakh be excluded? Are you assuming that ranks eight through ten would win?

└ Oz) No, if you take it that far, it becomes moron logic. Since all sentient beings can’t defy their moms, does that mean their combat power is lower than their moms’?

└ Sun Gatherer) You crazy bastard lol

└ OldNewbie) Mom Law checks out;;;;;;

Thus began the second phase of making the tier list.

“Discussion.”

Footnotes:

“Giyeol” and the stiff military-style replies parody Korean barracks speech, used here to humiliate Aigeom into obedience.
