◈ Spring Never Comes to Stolen Fields ◈
Chapter 32: Miss
──────
"Come to me, Sirius."
With those words, she kissed me.
Her soft, moist lips met mine.
This was my third kiss with Celia.
Maybe it was the most sober one we'd shared.
The brief kiss that had felt like a final farewell before Celia was taken to the Empire.
The kiss on the terrace, when we'd lost ourselves in each other.
And this quiet kiss in her room, where no one could see us.
Those memories passed through my mind.
But Celia was no longer the only one in those memories.
Luna.
She must have become far too precious to me.
"Hero, I have something I need to do."
"Is it... important enough to reject me? More important than joining the Hero's Party?"
Celia's eyes wavered.
I'm sorry.
"Not right now."
"What is it? What on earth did Sirius come to this academy to do?"
To pull you down from your position as the Hero.
"My actual job."
"Pardon?"
"Serving Miss Luna. That's why I came to this academy."
Celia bit down hard on her lip.
Easy. You're going to make yourself bleed.
"...Luna Iaros. Are you saying you can't accept me because of that bitch?"
More precisely, because of Miss Luna, daughter of the Demon King. I'll leave it at that.
"Yes."
"Is that your type...?"
"What do you mean, my type?"
"Are selfish, rude people with nothing but a pretty face your type? Hah. How disappointing."
Celia glared at me, breathing heavily.
She looked genuinely furious.
"I would appreciate it if you refrained from making disrespectful remarks about Miss Luna in my presence."
I gave her a polite bow.
Acting like this made me feel like I really was Luna's butler.
"...You said I was the prettiest..."
I heard her mutter under her breath.
I definitely had said something like that.
You were the prettiest girl in our village.
Don't worry. You're still beautiful.
Not that I could tell her what I was thinking.
Feeling that I had made my position clear to some extent, I prepared to leave.
"Hero, I'm sorry, but I don't think I can accept you right now. Nor can I promise to become a member of the Hero's Party."
I rose from the sofa and straightened my clothes.
Even after doing so, the tearstains on my chest remained plainly visible.
"I'm never giving up, Sirius."
Celia stood as well and spoke as though making a declaration.
"I'll charm you until you forget all about that bitch Luna."
She sounded incredibly confident.
"You can look forward to it. In the end, you'll kneel before me and swear eternal love."
That was a rather terrifying thing to say.
"I'll let you go today. Leave."
"...Rest well."
With that, I turned and grabbed the doorknob.
Her final words echoed in my ears.
"So you do like women after all, Sirius."
Only then did I remember why I had been dragged in here.
Right. I had been suspected of being gay.
I wanted to rest.
It had already been a long enough day.
I'd played tag with the Party members, gone hunting, grilled meat, tried to practice Innate Magic with Yuri, been suspected of being gay, then come all the way to Celia's room to give a passionate explanation.
After all that, wasn't I allowed to get some proper sleep in my own room?
When I opened Celia's door and stepped into the hallway, I came face-to-face with Luna, who had just emerged from her own room.
I was standing in front of Room 603, having just walked out of Celia's room.
Luna stood in front of Room 605.
My own Room 604 suddenly looked impossibly far away.
Luna tilted her head when our eyes met.
"Sirius."
"Yeah?"
Stay calm. Peace, come to me.
Against my wishes, cold sweat poured down my back.
"That isn't your room, is it?"
"Uh... yeah..."
Luna's eyes turned icy.
Goosebumps rose all over my body.
The tension I felt now was nothing like when Celia had caught me in that indecent situation with Yuri.
Was I... going to die today...?
In the prime of my youth... without accomplishing a single thing...
Luna crossed her arms.
There it was. The queen pose.
"Get out of that filthy place right now."
A shiver ran through my whole body.
My body defied my will and darted toward her.
Before I knew it, I was sitting before Luna in the most respectful posture possible.
In other words, I was kneeling on the floor.
"Sirius."
"Yes...?"
Still kneeling, I looked up at her as she stood with her arms crossed.
"You'd better answer very carefully from now on."
I could hear myself swallow loudly.
This was serious.
"Follow me."
Unable to return to my own room, I was hauled off into Room 605, the lair of the Demon King's daughter.
Luna sat on the sofa with her arms crossed. I knelt before her, both hands clenched into fists.
"Ha... This won't do..."
Luna looked at me incredulously.
You haven't even given me a chance to explain yet. Is it already over for me?
"You. Go wash up. Right now. In my room."
Looking deeply displeased, she banished me to the bathroom.
With no other choice, I washed up as she ordered and came back out.
Luna liked things clean, but she had never done this before, so I found it strange.
After washing up, I knelt in the same position again.
"Ha... Now that disgusting smell is mostly gone."
"Did... I smell that bad...?"
I thought I kept myself fairly clean. It stung a little.
"Not that. I mean the disgusting scent of another woman on your body."
The backs of my knees went weak.
Last time, Luna had immediately asked who it was just because my eyes were a little swollen.
This time, she had realized I'd been with another girl just from the faint scent clinging to me.
"Sirius."
"Yes."
"Will you tell me, or should I make you tell me?"
Her eyes glowed blue because of the ring she wore, yet they looked more demonic than any eyes I had ever seen.
"Please let me tell you."
Please. If her binding forced me to speak the truth, it would be disastrous.
"Well..."
I carefully explained that Celia suspected I was Yuwol, while I was doing my best to deny it.
I told her that Celia had invited me to join the Party when I entered her room, but I refused because I had to serve Miss Luna.
I might have left out a few key details, but nothing I said was a lie.
Luna listened silently until I finished.
"...That's everything..."
I felt like I had explained myself well enough, but when she said nothing, I slowly looked up at her.
Luna seemed deep in thought.
"...What was that mark?"
"Pardon?"
"That tearstain-looking mark on your shirt."
So she'd noticed that I hugged Celia...
I squeezed my eyes shut.
"It was so sudden..."
Luna responded incredulously.
"What else? Is that all? You hugged her, then what? Did you do anything else or not?"
"We... kissed for a moment too..."
Smack.
My head snapped to the side.
My cheek stung.
Luna probably hadn't hit me with all her strength, at least by her standards, but it hurt plenty.
I had something I needed to explain, but my mind had gone completely blank.
"Listen carefully, Sirius."
She held my face in both hands and turned my head back toward her.
The spot she had struck throbbed, but her soft hands gently stroked it.
"Hurting you like this."
Keeping my face in her hands, she pulled me toward her and kissed me.
She licked my lips, and her tongue explored every corner of my mouth.
"Rewarding you like this."
Luna pulled away and spoke.
"I'm the only one allowed to do either."
As though she was worried my cheek still hurt, Luna stroked the spot again.
"I can't stand other bitches laying so much as a finger on you. No. I won't stand for it."
Luna's silver hair shone brilliantly in the moonlight.
My cheek still ached, but her overwhelming beauty drew my attention far more.
"I'll show you why you're mine. What kind of relationship we have."
Without another word, she went to the kitchen and returned with a small knife.
Don't tell me, Luna. You...
The tip of the knife drew a short curve across her upper arm.
Bright red blood began gathering in droplets over the crescent-shaped wound.
"Our Sirius likes me best, doesn't he? Right?"
A blissful smile bloomed across her face.
The moment I realized Luna's binding had disappeared, I rushed forward and licked her wound.
This was it. The unbearable thirst inside me was finally quenched.
"...Hngh..."
She let out a soft moan and offered me her arm without resistance.
A pleasure stronger than any drug surged into my brain.
It felt like I could do anything if I could just drink this.
Before, it had felt as though my magical power would run wild if I drank it, but Master's ring seemed to suppress that effect.
I stayed beside Luna on the sofa, my face buried against her arm, until the bleeding stopped.
How much time had passed?
When no more blood came out, I let out a disappointed sigh.
Luna stroked my head as though she found me adorable.
"Sirius. That girl is no match for me anyway."
She licked her lips and continued.
"After all... I was the one who took your first, wasn't I?"
Luna really was a bold young lady.
