◈ The Dungeon Gallery's Terrifying Newbie ◈

Chapter 56: worldiscold (2)

──────

Title: From the Beginning, No One Has Stood in the Heavens.

Author: newbie

Not Dungeon Masters, not Blessed Ones, not even gods.

But now, even that unbearable vacancy on heaven's throne is over.

From now on... I will stand in the heavens.

golemking: Cut the bullshit already, newbie.

└ dip: What a... comical sight.

└ kongkong: This person is actually flying through the sky LOL

└ psychward_mvp: That's Malrang they're flying with right now, isn't it??

└ psychward_mvp: Malrang is an S-rank Minion...

└ psychward_mvp: How is that even a slime...

└ whaleyeah: I want to trade the slime in my dungeon for it, yeah.

└ whaleyeah: It's clearly the king of all slimes.

└ whaleyeah: Flight is already absurd enough.

└ whaleyeah: But look at it putting newbie inside its body so they won't be cold LOL

└ no_minions_4_me: The view from the sky is fucking beautiful.

└ no_minions_4_me: Look at the snow falling.

└ anonbutcher: It's the kind of view that makes you emotional.

└ anonbutcher: It feels different from a Winter-theme dungeon.

└ worldiscold: Aren't you cold, newbie?

└ newbie: I'm nice and warm inside Malrang's body.

└ newbie: I'll be there soon hehe.

└ humanluvr: Newbieee!

└ humanluvr: You need to raise Malrang big and strong so it can carry two people!

└ humanluvr: You have to ride it with me later!

└ newbie: I'll try...

I flew through the sky.

Not figuratively. I was literally flying through the sky.

Malrang flew well even outside Dreamland.

Maybe it was excited because there was no ceiling holding it back, but it soared high into the air.

You know how dogs go completely crazy and start sprinting around the moment you take them for a walk?

That was exactly what Malrang was like.

Thanks to that, I could look down at the world from among the clouds.

Was this what riding in a hot-air balloon felt like?

Like someone riding a Ferris wheel at an amusement park, I admired the scenery while browsing the gallery.

└ newbie: No intruders have entered the dungeon yet, right?

└ worldiscold: Yeah. There hasn't been any news since the last dungeon scouting.

└ worldiscold: I'm guessing they're making various preparations.

Fortunately, no intruders arrived at Dino World before I reached Frostthorn Mountain.

Dino World was secha's dungeon.

Its theme was Ancient, with Lizardmen, Drakes, and so on.

It seemed to specialize in Drake-type creatures.

secha had rarely uploaded photos related to themself on the gallery.

At most, they posted pictures of their Minions or updates on Waves.

Did they dislike taking pictures of themself?

I could understand that.

Before becoming a Dungeon Master, I was an introvert too, so I never uploaded pictures of my face to social media.

I did take commemorative photos sometimes, but those were only for making memories and looking back on them myself.

I didn't take them to show other people.

If I hadn't started posting live updates, I might've acted like secha too.

Who knew that uploading a post for advice at the beginning would turn into a regular series?

I'd also discovered the fun of sharing my daily life through photos, anyway.

I've gone on a tangent.

What I was trying to say was this.

I was really curious what secha looked like.

skullbones: Everyone thinks they're a dragon.

└ skullbones: It's not like they're some fucking pussy, but they've never said a word about what they look like.

└ skullbones: The day that mask finally comes off is here, yeah.

└ op_ghost: They're the only bastard who chose the Ancient theme LOL

└ op_ghost: Anyway, newbie, I have a wish...

└ op_ghost: Please take a picture of that bastard's face and upload it to the gallery...

That felt like an invasion of privacy.

Well, I'd probably find out once I reached the dungeon.

I arrived at Frostthorn Mountain.

I got a little nervous from here on.

If I happened to run into elves or a Swordmaster, I'd be in a pretty serious situation.

One fortunate thing was that Malrang and I had no Mana at all.

Which meant that unless someone saw me with their own eyes, there was no way they could detect me.

magichero: I-I-I-If it doesn't even show up under Detection Magic, then...

magichero had vouched for that.

I could rest easy.

Besides, I was in the sky right now.

Frostthorn Mountain had something called Frost Trees.

They were apparently leafy evergreen trees that stayed green even in winter, like camellia trees.

They weren't packed together as densely as a forest.

Still, it wasn't a good place to observe the sky from the ground.

Wouldn't that make it unlikely for anyone to spot me?

'Fortunately, it looks like they don't know yet.'

There was a camp at the foot of Frostthorn Mountain.

It was too far away to see clearly.

But smoke was rising, so there were definitely people there.

It was obvious who would set up camp in such a gloomy, shitty place.

World Tree Forest elves and a Swordmaster.

It had to be them.

Come to think of it, didn't elves care about plants?

I remembered reading that in one of chongchong_sage's posts.

I'd heard that elves in this world were as fanatical as European environmental activists.

They needed firewood to start a fire, didn't they?

humanluvr: Looks like even elves can't do anything about the cold.

└ newbie: LOLLLLLLLLLL I guess so.

Unless it's a special case, people don't have convictions or anything in the face of death.

"Let's start going down."

"Urk."

I found the entrance to Dino World.

After landing safely, I got out of Malrang's body and stood in front of the entrance.

It was fucking cold.

I had Pain Reduction as a skill.

Yet it was still this cold, which made me understand why Dwarves had so much body hair.

If I didn't have Malrang, I might've frozen to death on the way here.

So this was what Veteran dungeon entrances looked like.

It was the same as Dreamland's entrance, but much older and more worn down.

magichero... It was annoying, so I'd just call magichero, Mahiro from now on.

According to Mahiro, one could tell a dungeon's age using some kind of magic.

Seeing the difference myself, Dreamland obviously looked brand new.

Only the final hurdle remained.

Could I enter Dino World?

Everyone who entered a dungeon from outside was considered an intruder.

But I could communicate with the owner here through the Dungeon Gallery.

And I was a Dungeon Master myself, so how would Oblivion judge this case?

I didn't know.

Since I didn't know, I had no choice but to try it myself.

newbie: Phew... Here I go, yeah.

With that, Malrang and I entered the dungeon.

.

.

.

.

.

I blinked.

The cold vanished in an instant.

It was cozy and warm, so it seemed I'd successfully entered the dungeon.

The scenery changed too.

The snow-covered mountain had become a jungle filled with tough grass and trees.

The magnificent grandeur of nature I'd only seen in photos and videos unfolded before my eyes.

It was hard to believe this place was a dungeon.

The sun shone brilliantly.

There were small plants and animals too.

This was another world.

How should I put it?

Looking at Dino World, Dreamland really was a weird dungeon.

Most other dungeons seemed to have natural scenery like this.

Even though I owned it, Dreamland was gloomy, creepy, and unpleasant.

'It looks kind of like the Amazon rainforest. This is really cool...'

While I was idly offering my little review and touching the grass, heavy vibrations shook the ground.

Someone was approaching from over there.

I slowly turned my head to look... Huh?

"Oh. It really is newbie."

I blinked.

Then I quietly nodded.

"I never thought I'd get to see another Dungeon Master with my own eyes like this..."

Yeah.

Somehow, it turned out this way.

"Then you're..."

"That's right. I'm the Dungeon Gallery user you're thinking of."

secha was really huge.

I had to crane my neck just to see their face.

Secha wasn’t humanoid.

If anything, secha was closer to a giant beast. The rough scales and protrusions covering the thick hide cast tiny shadows across it, making it look even more threatening.

But compared to the massive, heavy body, the waving with the tiny front legs looked incredibly pathetic.

I gave my honest impression.

"You're a dinosaur?"

"I guess I do look a little like one?"

"You look like a Tyrannosaurus. That's cool as hell."

"I can Polymorph, but I thought it'd be better to show you my true form first."

"You can Polymorph too?"

secha nodded.

"Your neck looks like it hurts, so I'll change forms."

The enormous beast began to shrink.

Then the entire body was completely engulfed in light, and changed into a human form.

Secha was enormous just a moment ago, but now was much smaller than me.

The green hair was tied into twin tails, and the way the tail swayed back and forth was honestly pretty cute.

Was this what people called gap moe?

I'd thought secha’s voice was surprisingly soft for a giant beast.

"...Were you female?"

"I have a dick."

Oh, fuck.

I take back what I said about him being cute.

"...So you're a femboy?"

"Oh, for fuck's sake."

secha pressed a hand to his forehead like he had a headache.

"Polymorph doesn't turn me into whatever I want to be. It's just random... Haah. Anyway, I didn't style these shitty twin tails because I wanted to be cute or pretty, so don't get the wrong idea. Okay?"

"Then can I touch your dick...?"

"I'm just going to kill myself. Get out of my dungeon."

"I'm sorry."

That reaction was definitely secha.

.

.

.

.

.

We should've gone inside, but the conversation kept going, so we continued talking at the entrance.

"You can speak casually, bro."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm way more of a junior than you, so of course. Besides, the other older guys already speak casually to me all the time anyway."

"Got it, newbie."

"So am I considered an intruder?"

"No, it looks like you're treated as an ally."

Was this what they called a sense of familiarity?

Honestly, I wasn't very good at talking, so I thought things would be awkward. Luckily, they weren't.

We immediately discussed a way to overcome the current situation.

"Did you see the post?"

"The one where you uploaded pictures of the entrance? Of course I saw it. Fuck... They really set up a whole camp."

"How's the dungeon doing?"

"Like I said then... Honestly, I'm screwed at this rate. This jungle used to be covered in deadly poison traps, but the elves dismantle them faster than I can buy and install them. The other areas are the same too..."

Dino World, where secha had suffered under the elves, was completely wrecked.

From what I heard, nearly all the traps had been destroyed, and many Minions were injured.

The fact that Dino World's coordinates weren't near World Tree Forest was a huge relief.

The number of elves currently at Frostthorn Mountain was limited.

That meant if we could somehow get through this Wave, we'd have room to breathe.

World Tree Forest and Frostthorn Mountain were very far apart.

It would take considerable time, money, and manpower for them to come back here.

The problem was...

"That Swordmaster... They're impossible to deal with. I lose even in a one-on-one fight, and thinking about them coming in with all those elves is seriously making my head spin."

secha's level was almost three times higher than mine.

Yet he was certain he would lose, which meant the enemy called a Swordmaster was incredibly powerful.

There was only one thing to do.

I asked secha, "Can I test a feature for a moment?"

"A feature?"

"You told me to do it if I could install Minions and traps last time. Let me try."

"I did say that, but there's no way it'll actually work..."

I operated the hologram.

Just like when I was in Dreamland, I opened the Minion purchase window.

Then I clicked on a familiar-looking Minion, and ta-da!

An Anomaly Minion appeared.

It was a fresh new one I'd just bought.

"...It works?"

Of course it had to work.

Malrang was right next to me, after all.

If a Dungeon Master and a slime could enter, why wouldn't another Anomaly Minion be able to?

Still, this was really strange.

I could buy Minions even in another dungeon, not just my own.

Well, even if it hadn't worked, I could've just bought them in Dreamland and carried them here with Malrang.

"The problem is the Activation tag. It means, 'The Minion moves when the Wave begins,' right? I don't know whether that applies to a Wave in your dungeon too."

Anomaly Minions only moved during Waves.

But I didn't know whether another dungeon's Wave beginning would count as Activation.

There was no data, so there was nothing I could do about it.

Dungeon Masters were isolated by nature.

One Dungeon Master helping another dungeon.

What I was doing now went far beyond everything people had considered normal until now.

"I'm going to believe it will work."

"..."

Still, we had no choice but to test it.

It would be a shame if secha's "I'm just going to kill myself" comment disappeared from my post.

"Yeah. If I'm going to die anyway, it'd be better to die of jealousy after seeing you flex on me. If I survive this time, I'll write your name in my suicide note and make sure to kill myself."

"But I haven't ever flexed on you..."

This was unfair. So unfair.
